Cally can't post! Can anyone help?

Postby Slicks_Mom » Thu May 04, 2006 7:33 am

Cally is having trouble with public posting from her home computer. She is able to log in and she is able to send PM's but when she tries to post on the forum :

"The message comes up that the topic I'm replying to is no longer valid. I just got a Dell computer and with the firewall virus scanner they install it's hard to do anything"

Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice to get Cally back in?

Ack! And unfortunately, Mordy and Panther are out of town...

I haven't had that problem, and I'm no computer whiz, so I have no idea.

So they are both out of town then? That's what I thought, which why I posted it here. I'm a Mac user and honestly know nothing about firewalls and security (since I have none!!)

Yes, they're both gone.

Hopefully Cally can figure something out.

I messaged Cally and told her: clean your cookies, clear your cache. That's often the problem. Also, use Mozilla/Firefox if you can 'cause Internet Explorer is often screwing up.

Hopefully she'll get back online soon

I PM'd Cally as well. I'll keep my paws crossed.

I PM'd Cally with some suggestions but I guess she is still having problems. If she can respond to PM's, why not public messages. I told her maybe it was an internet thing.

I know! so weird - she can log in to the site and send/receive PM's.. it probably is an internet security setting.

I can post from my old computer (made by a friend) and from my friends computer. But, that darn old Macfee firewall prevents me from doing many things. Sometimes it lets me...sometimes it doesn't.

Plus, I live in an area where we can't get high speed, only dial up...so, that makes it 10 times worse. Did you know that on dial up when someone calls when I'm on the computer it kicks me out of the internet! It's maddening. I can hardly wait til they bring high speed and cable TV out my way.

Once again, many thanks everyone. I will try the directions given to me by Brenda and clean some cookies...that sounds so funny to a non computer person

We use AVG antivirus http://www.grisoft.com and Zone Alarm for the firewall. http://www.zonealarm.com

We just don't like the Macafee and Norton's products.

We have no trouble with AVG and Zone Alarm.
