Editing posts?

Postby Emily » Thu Feb 16, 2012 4:28 pm

It may be obvious and I am oblivious, but can we no longer edit our posts after we post them? I wanted to add something to a post earlier, but couldn't find the edit button. I can't even remember what I was going to add now, though lol

The little pencil in the bottom right lets you edit. :D

I think it's only available for a certain amount of time (a couple of hours? a couple of days? I can't remember) and then you no longer have the ability to edit your post. Not sure I understand the reasoning behind that but it's probably built into the software.

It also goes away, along with the quote function, when you refresh your browser. Emily, if you clear your cookies and browsing history, and log back in to the board, you should have the edit and quote functions both visible in your posts.

This is correct. The edit limit is 12 hours.

The reason for this is that otherwise sometimes earlier posts are edited a long time after being posted, and then the entire conversation further down the thread doesn't make sense anymore.

I guess it depends on what device you are browsing with? I have a little square button with the word "EDIT" in it in the upper right of my post. It is near the "QUOTE" button, and I've never seen a pencil. lol
