new windows?

Postby Moemer » Wed Nov 23, 2011 6:13 am

did links outside of ODO used to open in a new tab? I am continuously closing my ODO tab after clicking on a link that directs elsewhere. I can't figure out, is this me being an idiot, or did these links used to open in a new tab and I'm just going by procedural memory?

I think they always opened in a new tab.

I just noticed that too, but I'm not sure how they worked before. I may be noticing more because I've been having a variety of continually evolving issues with YouTube. I've been using the "back" arrow or command to come back to ODO.

Hmm, I didn't know, since I have my browser configured so that when I click on a link using my mouse wheel, it opens it up in a new tab, and that's how I browse all the time.

The current HTML standards are to give the user control over whether to open a link in the same window, a new window, or a tab, so by default it would open in the same page unless you use an alternate open method or have configured your browser differently. Unlike the old forum, this one adheres to XHTML 1.0 standards.
