What is the negative number in the reply field?

Postby Slicks_Mom » Fri Mar 10, 2006 10:25 am

I'm guessing it's someone who replied, then deleted their reply? But maybe it's something else all together. Is there a legend somewhere that explains? thanks!

Do you have link to an example for this? Negative numbers should not occur, since the smallest number of replies a post can have is 0...

If you go to Main Index right now, you'll see (under posts) 7431[color:"red"] (1) [/color]

Maybe it means someone is in the process of replying? I see it from time to time when I'm in a view that lists the # of hits and replies...

Ah, now I get it! Yes, Gina is right. The numbers show you the number of new threads and posts (in their respective columns) since you last logged in.

Slicks_mom, are you an accountant, by any chance?
The parenthesis thing gets me in trouble with the accountants sometimes because they always go right to "negative number" when I'm just doing legalese drafting stuff.

No, I'm not an accountant but I do work heavily with budgets and financials. That's a negative number to me!!! Absolutely - between the parenthesis AND the red color?!? LOL - but I digress, I'll accept it as a handy feature than has NOTHING to do with accounting, if you say so....

Well, I'm glad it wasn't something broken with the forum!
