viruses, villi, and vaccination

Postby LisaT_II » Sat May 06, 2017 10:41 am

Folks on this forum know a lot of cool stuff, so maybe someone can answer my question.

Several years ago when jazz got scooped for IBD they found stunted villi, like you would in celiac disease. The IMS was surprised at the damage and in conversation he mentioned that they often see this in parvo dogs and it can sometimes heal. Lately in the news for humans is how some viral illnesses can trigger human celiac disease, which is consistent with the previous conversation with the IMS.

Do we know whether or not vaccination for viral illnesses might trigger this process?

I'm thinking if this is a process of antibodies and inflammation, then the Vax very well may mimic this process.

I don't know about the vax issue, but my sister has celiac disease. Hers started years ago with a tropical sprue diagnosis and how she would have got that we had no idea. That was a virus I think, she had treatment for it and the celiac resolved, now it's back.

I guess I never realized, before jazz, that it can be triggered and/or temporary. Probably more likely in genetically susceptible individuals.

I hope your sister can get it under control again. I know viruses can "re-ignite" under stress.

About all we can do is hope her body heals over time. She is doing gluten free diet, has constant pain in one spot enough that she's been on pain meds. It's probably damaged villi in her intestine that causes her pain. Unfortunately where she lives her doctors are poor so that doesn't help her.

I hope she looks outside the medical establishment for things to support her. Regular doctors are so limited in the tools they have.

I am curious if the villi need anything in particular to better heal, other than basic gut repair stuff. Will have to do some googlin'
