Talk to me about Lyme!

Postby Moemer » Tue Jun 21, 2016 2:26 pm

Hi folks,
I've been on the prowl for a a dog, and I talked to a rescue today with a dog who was pulled from a KY shelter. He tested positive for Lyme and was treated, he's currently asymptomatic.

We have some pretty specific criteria for Nextdog, so if the dog is A+ in all other days - should this be a barrier? What's the likelihood that this will become symptomatic if it isn't currently? What could the long term consequences for me and dog be?

Thanks all!
Elsie (ACDX) and Arlo (FoxhoundX)

Hey. Pofi was having a lameness issue many years ago and we tested for Lyme. It did show natural exposure to Lyme and also antibodies produced from Lyme vaccine ( had done vax in earlier years, but stopped). We were pretty sure it was not chronic disease yet. Did 6 weeks doxy and he has been asymptomatic ever since.
