Giardia

Postby KatrinH » Wed Dec 23, 2015 3:29 am

Well merry Christmas. Ranger was just diagnosed with Giardia.

Still waiting on blood results too if there's anything else since interestingly he doesn't have diarrhea but rather really hard/constipated stool.

Weight loss and regular energy and eating like a horse Are his other symptoms.

I'll pick up meds today and will do a thorough cleaning. Any other suggestions?

Sucks that I am on a home visit so there's the cat to think of and visitors for Christmas, including my almost 93 year old grandpa :frown:

Any suggestions/tips/etc on this issue?

No experience with giardia. The weight loss and hunger would be consistent with a parasite that is inhibiting absorption of nutrients.

I read once that MSM helps to fight giardia. No clue if that's true. The DE people might encourage DE. Sulphur like MSM in some dogs can cause urinary leakage.

No clue about your other questions...
