I was just browsing through Chewy.com and noticed a number of dry dog foods I have not heard of before including:
Leonard Powell Signature
Under The Sun
Many are described as manufactured by family owned and/or operated pet food companies. My little toy poodle is thriving on Annamaet and Fromm's so I don't expect to make any changes. Anyone use any of these products?
The only one I've heard of is First Mate, which I seem to recall I used for a while for one of my dogs (and the feline version for my cat) and for a while was quite popular where I live. IIRC, it used to be a not-bad lower cost option. However, I seem to remember it changed formula or changed ownership and popularity went rapidly downhill. I still see the cat version on the shelves, but don't think I've seen the dog one where I shop for quite some time.
A number of GSD owners use the First Made. My girl was using the canned Natural Planet for a bit, but now I just use it for emergencies when I haven't cooked any food. I have one friend that uses Lotus kibble, but frankly I don't know about any of them. I'm out of the kibble loop since I don't feed it.
NuLo is one that my local petsmart carries and I think I've seen Lotus but I'm not certain. I haven't tried NuLo but considered it for my BIL's dogs if the wellness they were on didn't work out. I don't feed kibble either to the dog. My cat gets Fromm's.
