Bella & fence

Postby Jen » Sat Sep 07, 2013 11:57 am

Interestingly, just being able to see what's going by the house has reduced her reactions to bikes, strollers, dogs, etc. Snarky dogs still get the full throttle explosion, but polite dogs trotting by are no big deal.

Why only with a see through fence but not a window, though?

that.

she can smell and hear them better, and has more advance notice of anything approaching, so she has a chance to be in a curious state rather than startled when things pop into her field of vision through a window?

That makes a lot of sense. Ron (Nosework founder) has talked about scent work being good for reactive dogs because they learn to trust their noses more.

She is probably able to learn a lot about what's coming way before they show up, so she's already processed and categorized it before it ever enters her field of vision.

I don't have any great insights but I'm glad she's settled down!

She looks so calm and relaxed.
