Eddie would like to introduce.....

His new little Big Sister! This is Mitzi, a 12 year old Bichon Frise.

She lived with my cousin since she was just under one year old. My cousin was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last fall, and asked me if I would take Mitzi when she was gone, something I was happy to do. My cousin passed away quickly and peacefully in her own home this morning, and Mitzi and I have just gotten home after a long car and ferry ride.
She came with two crates (one for the car and one for the house) and two beds, and bags of toys and clothes and food and treats. For an eight pound dog, she sure has a lot of baggage, and I don't mean the emotional kind! And which bed does she choose to finally settle down in? Why, the cat's bed on the armchair, of course! Allie is not amused.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking Mitzi in. I'm sure knowing that her dog would be well cared for helped your cousin be at peace.

I'm very sorry for your loss, Jean, and I agree with Kara -- I think it meant everything to your cousin, knowing that her dog would have a safe and loving home when she could no longer be that home.

And Mitzi is a cutie! I love Bichons, and all the Bichons I have met have had amiable and/or mischevious personalities. She looks like a great addition to your family.

I'm sorry for your loss. But what a wonderfully loving thing you did by easing her mind and giving her beloved dog a good home.

Jean, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad your cousin could have the peace of knowing Mitzi would be loved and well cared for. That's an awesome thing to give someone.

Mitzi looks like a doll. I think it's so cute that she has all this stuff of her own, but she's making herself at home in the other pet's beds anyway. That sounds like every Bichon I've known - sweet, fun and quite sure everyone around loves them (including any other animals).

She's a doll and you are an angel and I know your cousin is very much at peace knowing her baby is safe and sound.

I'm so terribly sorry for your loss, Jean.

Mitzi.... I need to squeeze her!! I got a big giggle out of her "baggage" and then choosing the cat's bed instead. Silly girl! She's cute as a bug's ear. I love it that she has lots o stuff.

That is one adorable little dog. the Bichons I have worked with are such clowns. I think you are going to have some fun with this one.

I'm sorry for your loss, Jean. Pancreatic cancer is h*llish. Im sure your cousin was so very grateful for you, such a lovely deed that you agreed to make Mitzi part of your family.

I hope her transition is easy & everyone enjoys their new little big sister.

Good on you!

I'm sure it must have been a great relief for your cousin to know that you would be there for Mitzi when she's gone. I'm sorry for your loss.

She's a cute little thing and i thought it was especially funny that the color and texture of her coat and the cat bed match so well in the photo. :)

I'm sorry about your cousin, I'm sure it was a great burden off her shoulders to know that Mitzi would be so well cares for after her death. How does Mitzi seem with regard to the death of her owner? Some dogs seem so affected, others... not so much... I hope she's doing well!

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. Mitzi will fit in well with Eddie, I'm sure. Allie may take a bit more time if Mitzi keeps stealing her bed.

Mitzi is doing a lot of whining, and although my cousin told me she is not a lapdog and doesn't like being held, the only way to quiet her is to hold her. I took her for a long run in the park and on the beach, hoping to wear off some of her nervous energy, but she's still edgy. Hopefully she will settle in soon.

I brought home the jacket my cousin wore last and a teeshirt, but she's not interested in them, so I'm not sure that it is missing her person so much as being unsure of herself in new surroundings. She is not using her own beds or crates at all - Allie's spots suit her best, including Allie's place on my bed at night. Allie let her have it until 4 AM, when all h*ll broke out between them. For Mitzi's own safety, I put her in her crate for the last couple of hours of the night so we could all get some sleep.

She's a cute little monkey - full of energy and spunk.

As everyone else has said, I'm so sorry for the loss of your cousin, but glad her passing was easy and peaceful I'm sure it was a solace and relief to her to know how well Mitzi would be looked after.

Welcome, Mitzi! You are cute as the proverbial button!

I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin's passing, but she definitely chose the best guardian for Mitzi. Who, by the way, is adorable and sounds like quite a little character!

I'm sorry for your loss Jean. Giving Mitzi the gift of a safe and loving home is huge.

Nice to have a small dog for a change.
