He can fly!- Photo Heavy

Postby maxs_mommy » Sun Jun 10, 2012 7:50 pm

We were playing around in the back yard tonight and grabbed a few jump shots. Sometimes I'm so grateful Max is so easy and willing to train. The light was low so some are kind of fuzzy. We're going to try for more when the light's better.

I'm rather partial to the cocker butt over the jump pic, personally. I love how much fun he's having!

Yep, it's the butt all the way! As a terrier person, that's the sight I'm most used to seeing.

Nice butt tuck, Max!

I like the third picture the best, too, because of his facial expression!

Max says thanks. He does love to jump, especially when there are treats involved. We joke that he should have been born into a circus. We tried a chute but you'd think it was the belly of a shark and he'll have nothing to do with it so we stick with jumps and weaves.

Does Max like a tunnel? This site has a 6' tunnel for only $60, that's a really good price.

Jumps, tunnel and weaves would be a really nice little course.

Connie, thanks for the idea he won't go near a tunnel except to try to bully it into submission. We have a 6' that he's scared of. We've been working on it for over a year and he's still scared of it. I don't know if it's the feel under his feet or going into a tunnel or what. I'm thinking of making him an A-frame for some variety.

I am picturing something you could fabricate for him to run under instead of those commercial tunnels. How about using a couple of those metal hoops that gardeners or farmers use to cover rows of crops. They'd be easy to push into the ground, easily movable or extendable. Cover those with nylon cloth or clear plastic that he could see through. You could make it really short to start with so he was in and out before he knew it, and it would still have the ground for footing. It could gradually be extended as he got used to it. Just for the fun of him having another obstacle, not as a method of training for the tunnel or chute.

Aww Max is so happy when he's having fun!

Yes you should definitely try an A frame. Natsu for some strange reason LOVES the A frame. She won't jump the jumps but will run up the A frame by herself.

WANT! Being a Cocker mom, I find Max's face totally endearing and I love his coloring, especially his eyebrows.

He is such a good dog and tries so hard and I do love it when he pulls his ears up. He's just so darn cute with the tan points. When we taught him to jump he cross-applied it and now jumps over everything! It seems to be his favorite mode of travel.
