Dog Wedding Cake

Postby Claire » Tue Jan 17, 2012 10:21 am

I've been approached by another Weim rescue volunteer to bake a dog wedding cake for a NYC store promo. Natural Balance and Petco want to get people in the weekend of the Westminster show. I'm so excited -- I've got it all planned out -- even bride/groom dogs to match the breed and colors of the couple! LOL They only asked for a cake and cookies, but I put a quote together for everything -- including the display, table cover, cake server, plates, napkins (they say "our wedding" -- so cute!). Thought I'd make it more appealing to them; a party-in-a-package.

Strange how things come about. I knew a woman who couldn't keep her Weim, so I put her in touch with Weim Rescue. The "cake woman" wound up fostering the dog and ultimately adopted him in June. That month my cookie-of-the-month was a ginger wedding bell with coconut, and I sent some to her to thank her for adopting. So she specifically asked for those cookies for the NY event! A random act of kindness comes back to me.

I've been invited to attend, too. Hope we don't get our first major snow storm that weekend. Would be my luck.

Don't hold your breath for pictures.....
11 p.m. last nite I got an email from the Rescue woman, telling me her boss just told her yesterday there is NO budget for this! Woa!
How did she expect to get wedding cake, cookies, bride/groom toppers with no budget?
She's gonna hand out Natural Balance treats on a tray, have a picture of a wedding cake, and buy some "cheesy" decorations from the local party store.
Now there's a store manager who really knows how to draw customers! ppppffftttttt
