APDT Rally Redwood City May 7th/8th

Postby Sabine » Mon May 09, 2011 6:31 pm

Quigley and I had a very successful weekend, even though I didn't care much for the long drive.

Some of you know that I wasn't very confident about how things would turn out, since I didn't have much time to train for the past 2 weeks, and APDT is pretty tough. For example no other venue penalizes repeat cues (except for the ASCA Master's Level I think).

For those of you who are interested in the details, I decided to collect all my trial notes in a new blog that I set up especially for that purpose:

I haven't figured out that whole blog roll thing yet, but if anyone wants to link up, please let me know! :)

Oy, and one thing I completely forgot to mention  - I go to meet Marci on Saturday!

*waves to Marci - congrats again on that beautiful run and first place with Chiefy!*

congratulations!
American ribbons throw me off, everything's switched around... if I recall correctly from my horse days, here it goes red, blue, white, yellow, pink...

Way to go, look at all of those ribbons!!

And that *is* a super long drive, long & b-o-r-i-n-g, at least the route I took.

Apparently it was very worthwhile for Team Q!

:)

Thanks everybody! :)

There are some differences from from venue to venue.

AKC regular classes: 1st = blue, 2nd = red, 3rd = yellow, 4th = white
AKC non-regular classes: 1st = rose, 2nd = brown, 3rd = light green, 4th = gray
Qualifying ribbons in obedience and rally are green.

APDT: 1st = blue, 2nd = red, 3rd = yellow, 4th = white, 5th = pink
Qualifying ribbons can be any color.

UKC:
blue, 2nd = red, 3rd = green, 4th = yellow
Qualifying ribbons are any shade of blue.

ETA: the round pendants on the purple bands are "new title" medallions, made of metal and with the APDT rally logo in full color on the front. Very cool. :)

On Friday I drove up the 5, so I could get there quickly, before the big weekend rush. It was boring for the most part, but efficient.

For the drive home I took the 101. Not as nice as PCH (which is still closed in one spot after a mudslide in March), but definitely less boring than I5.

Thank you!

It was pleasant, considering the long drive. No traffic jams or anything. :)
