"The Other End of the Leash" by Patricia B. McConnell

Postby Skeletonkeys » Sat Oct 21, 2006 10:43 pm

Well, I know some of you have probably already read this, but if you haven't, it is very interesting. I picked it up the other day while shopping for my Mom's birthday, and I have been reading it intermittedly ever since. There's a lot of information about the way dogs think/communicate and how it does not neccessarily mesh with human thought and commincation. Since I started reading this, my boyfriend is getting annoyed with all my fact spouting...

Anyway, has anyone read this? What do you think about it?

this was the first dog behavior book i read, and i loved it. my DH was also a bit annoyed by my fact-spouting i really liked where they talked about the differences between dogs and cats too. helped me interpret my 3's behaviors a lot better than i had been!

I think it's a book that every dog owner should read. I loved it and read it twice. I'd recommend "The Culture Clash" by Jean Donaldson next.

I agree with Paula. The big three - "Other End...", "Culture Clash", and "Bones Would Rain From the Sky".

Great minds, Anne! I'm reading "Bones" right now. (although I admit it's taking me forever)

I loaned my "Bones" out so I'm waiting to get it back. I'm still reading "Mine" by Jean Donaldson. It's such a small book but I've been so busy. I'll finish it today.

The Other End of the Leash is fantastic. My husband is even reading it and enjoying it - which says a lot since he won't touch a dog book to save his hide.

Haven't read "Bones" or "Clash" yet.

I loved "The Other End of the Leash". I liked "Culture Clash" and am now reading "Bones", which I think I might like best of all (so far)!
