Control Unleashed: Creating a Focused and Confident Dog

Postby yintzy » Tue Jul 17, 2007 12:45 pm

I've been talking about my friend Leslie's book for ages now. The book is available from Clean Run. I'm ordering some copies today!

I have the book - just got it yesterday, and haven't started it yet, just flipped through, but I'm looking forward to reading it. Some people like Harry Potter, I'm a dog nerd...

It's great. I've read half of it already. Except my Harry Potter came yesterday so I started that too.

ETA: Look for Whisper and I in the book.

This is a great book! Got it on Friday and read it all yesterday.

It has so many good ideas and applications...can't wait to start working on them. And it was cool to see the Dawn & Whisper mentions too!

Highly recommended!

I can't wait to get mine. I'm hoping it will come in time for me to read while I'm out of town this weekend.

I just got my copy in the mail. I already like it and I've only read a little bit. DH is out of town so I'm going to read it tonight when I get done with class.

Apparently the word is spreading already. We found this German board mention. I wish I could remember German. Maybe Mordy can translate.

ETA:
Looks like a similar discussion as here, reading it after Harry Potter.

It's a "what are you reading right now" thread, and Anissa says she thinks it's a really neat book about ways to focus your dog more on you. Then she goes on to list the other books she is currently reading or looking forward to reading.

Yay, I'm glad everyone is getting the book. I just heard they've sold over 1300 copies of the book so far.

ETA: It's now available on Amazon.

I'm going to buy a copy the next time I'm up at Clean Run. Supposed to be tonight for class but I have to miss class this week so it'll be next week. I've recommended it to a few people and have heard good things about it.

I just wanted to chime in to say I just received this in the mail the other night and it is really good! Leslie has a great writing style for me. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through it, and I haven't practiced any of the exercises yet. But there is so much basic information that I feel like I've never read before. I'm having tons of "lighbulb" moments :-)

It really is. Like the whole part about, when unleashing your dog, not making it a big deal so that being unleashed isn't this huge act of freedom. Just this past weekend we went out to a field (this was before I read the excerpt in the book), I made them sit before taking off their leashes, and then I got them all riled up as they were unleashed and went running off and chasing each other. Sigh. I'm finally learning!
