For those in Cali--re animal cloning

Postby LisaT » Wed May 04, 2005 1:46 pm

This is from the HSUS website:

California legislators are currently considering A.B. 1428, introduced by Assemblymember Lloyd Levine. This legislation will ban the retail sale and transfer of cloned and genetically modified pets in California. The Humane Society of the United States condemns the commercial cloning of companion animals. Given the current pet overpopulation problem, which costs millions of animals their lives and millions in public tax dollars each year, the cloning of pets has no social value and in fact may lead to increased animal suffering.

Why in the world would someone want to clone their pet?? I mean yeah I miss Aurora and would give anyting to get her back, but even if I cloned her it wouldn't be her. Your pet is in it's spirit not it's genetics!! Don't people get that!!?

Cloning pets, that is a scary thought! other than the fact the clone would not be the same as your pet, this could only lead to disaster with all the health issues they have had with cloned animals so far.
