Starting Over

I now have 3 dogs. All senior black Cocker Spaniels.

I retired Carnegie, who is now 13, several years ago because while he loved class, he he hated trialing.. We ended up going with Sabine and Quigley or Dac for moral support and to just hang out with his buddies.

I now have a 7 year old and a 10 year old. Both pretty smart. I have an 8 week session I never got to use due to my klutziness. 4 broken ribs but that's another story.

I had to rehome Georgie to my brother. She and Jim really didn't click and after 4 years, I had to do something. She is very happy now and not the shy girl anymore.

Am I crazy to start all over again?

Never! Dogs are a constant cycle, ever changing.

What else would you do?

Try something different, do whatever appeals to you -- and to the dogs. Katie's right, it's a process that's always evolving.

When I get my strength and balance problems are resolved (I'm just 2 weeks out of rehab), I want to enroll Shadow or Marley in Beginner Novice. Old dogs love to learn so I'd like to see what they are capable of. I'm excited at the prospect of this challenge. 🎈
