She passed away this morning. I happened to be on the phone discussing euthanasia options with our vets assistant when my son noted she'd stopped breathing and was already gone. Our vet tried to persuade us to euthanize a couple weeks ago, but Bill wasn't ready to let her go. She tried her best to hang on for him, would eat only for Bill until nothing he offered would do. She mainly wanted to sleep, was uncomfortable yesterday, so Bill knew it was time. He said he would probably have been resentful if he would have let her go sooner. So now she's crossed the bridge too and is with Taffy. Bill buried her in the back yard this afternoon. So now Smokey is an only child. They weren't close, so doubt he misses her, he hasn't looked for her, just the cat seemed to be looking for her.
