I'm baaaaaaacckkk!

Postby QBert » Wed Nov 11, 2015 9:11 am

I've escaped whatever nightmarish loginloop error that was holding my account hostage! I was about ready to ask Fearless Leader for permission to create a whole new account just to get around it!

All is... well-ish. I've completed a round of chemo and radiation, with minimal nasty side effects, so I count myself very very lucky. The radiation oncologist is essentially done with me for now, we are waiting on a follow-up with the chemo specialist, and waiting on a consult with my surgeon as recommended by the radiation guy. He found some strictures on my last CT scan that he feels are best addressed surgically.

The dogs are well and happy, if bored and a little cabin-fevery. A few times when I've been at my worst I have sent them away to stay with A for a few days, and it is a great comfort to have that safety net in place not just in hospitalized crisis times but even for the occasional relief from the responsibility. If I can't provide my own standard of care, the guilt becomes crippling on top of the real problems, so it's huge to have a second home for them where they are not just safe and tended to, but happy and loved.

enough about us, fill me in, catch me up, send me links to threads I shouldn't miss, has anyone heard from Kevin?

YAY! Welcome back!

Did it just resolve on its own, or did you change anything on your device? We still don't know what's really causing all this and are impatiently waiting for a software fix.

Yay! Happy to have you back here :-)

My news: Kirby licked up a stranger's nose today. People invite him up on their laps and have no idea he's a booger hunter.

Oh goody!!!!

Glad to hear the good update minus the need for surgery again.

No news here - Gringo continues to fold himself into the most uncomfortable looking positions while sleeping, Pi is, well, Pi - I don't know how he's so cute! And your Brindle Girl is sure to finally catch a squirrel any day now. She is the most patient creature I've ever known.

Glad you're back! I fear Kevin won't return for more fun. :(
No news really. Max is still eating everything in sight, jumping on furniture and demanding belly rubs while refusing to grow hair. Same stuff, different day.

Welcome back!!

The only news I have is of a largish sum of money burning a hole in my pocket. Ahem.

Otherwise, nothing much going on dogwise here. Bella is turning into a quite nice only dog, though. It's kind of sad how well she has adjusted to being a single dog; it's like she was meant for it. :hmm:

It's great to see you on again, Q, and glad you handled the treatments without too many of the side effects. Sorry about hearing of the need for more surgery.

Not much is new here that I haven't posted on FB. After the two quite scary episodes, Cinnabon's breathing has stabilized at her new normal with the latest tweaking of meds, and Benson is acting as crazy hyper as ever. The cooler weather has perked them both up with some new found energy. I'm getting back to normal too and have settled into the new routine.

Welcome back to the last of posting! Glad you're handling treatment well so far. Fingers crossed for a successful surgery and uneventful recovery when it's time. I'm so glad you have A to help with the dogs when you need it. It makes such a difference to know that someone is caring for them the way you would; I'm eternally grateful for Henry's foster mom for the same reason.

In dog news, Henry is becoming a princess. He used to go out in all weather without much fuss at all, but lately he's decided that he doesn't like the cold and wet, so now I have to go out with him in the cold and wet to make sure he does his business or pay the price of accidents found by the dog walker later. I am a princess, but he's supposed to be a rough and tumble hound dog, damn it! LOL (And if that, along with lingering skunk smell I can't seem to get completely off of him, are the worst of my problems, I'll take it)

I'm glad you are back Qbert and that you had minimal side effects to the chemo. Here's hoping the surgery is NBD and recovery is fast.

Mitzi is loving being an only dog (despite the fact that her mama misses having a hiking buddy and gets heart-tugging pictures of shelties in rescue). Although Mitzi is nearly 15 and in chronic renal failure, she gets the zoomies and 'chase me mama' playfulness at least once a day and (touch wood) is eating fairly well again. I'm volunteering at an animal sanctuary that has relocated to a place near me and has - among other critters - Potbellied Piggies!!! :) So I'm a happy camper too.

Home from another hospital stay, and another surgery - all went well and hopefully this procedure will resolve much of the trouble that had me cycling in and out of hospital every few weeks. We're planning another round of chemo once I've had some time to heal up from the surgery. In the meantime everything looks good, recovery is progressing smoothly if slowly. The girls are staying with A until we're sure I'll be able to take care of them by myself; miss them terribly, but I know they're safe and happy there.

So glad it went well. And so grateful that you have A to take care of the girls with the love and dedication that you would give them. Heal well, rest well.

Take good care and heal up so that your girls can come back home. They are good medicine.

Sorry you had to go through another surgery, but if this will help resolve multiple issues and keep you from needing to be hospitalized so often, then that sounds like a good thing.

Had a really rough night, but the new surgery did its job and I didn't need to go back to the hospital, and by this morning was feeling back on track - so I asked A to bring the girls home! It's The Rabbit's birthday, and she got home in time to have a lovely supper in her own Big Chair, and is currently draped across my ankle snoozing. Kitty is still prowling the house checking to be sure all her stuff is where she left it.

So glad your furry family is back with you - a house without dogs just isn't 'home'.
