No Dogs On My Bed

Postby Carson_Crazies » Thu May 16, 2013 7:26 pm

Excepting ONE single solitary night about 4 years ago, I've not slept in bed without a dog in something like 14 years. Tonight there will be no dogs on my bed. Why, you ask? The why is that my new job is sending me to Switzerland for the next week! I leave tomorrow afternoon and will be back next Friday.

All of the dogs are at Mom's. Prayers that they'll be good and everything will be fine would be appreciated. Plus, if my plane crashes and I survive only to get eaten by a shark I'm going to be So. Mad.

Hopefully when I get back I'll have more time to hang with y'all!

Why yes, I *am* stalling to keep from going to bed. Why do you ask?

I know!!! I'm equal parts excited and nervous. Plus it's weird not having any dogs here. :) I'm totally the most excited about the food. I want to take the train to downtown Geneva and wander around. :)

I've never been anywhere really. This is my second time on an airplane. Ever.

Wow, have a fabulous time!

I used to travel a lot for work and it was always really weird going to bed without a dog/dogs after I had dropped them off. It's like sleeping in a hotel or something.

Well, I only called and texted my Mom until midnight. Yes, she only lives a mile away. lol Pia is a bit nervy, and sometimes when she stops by my house to let dogs out Pia will refuse to come out of her crate. I was worried that Mom wouldn't be able to get her in the house when I left (they were running around Mom's HUGE back yard). Pia came in fine, took a few laps of the basement, and hopped into her crate. Mom says the other three border collies came in, and hopped straight up on the bed and lay down. Ginger, apparently, is sleeping upstairs with Mom and my Stepdad. I tried to tell Mom she might as well go ahead and make Ginger a spot on the bed. lol

It's WEIRD with no dogs. I keep trying to take myself outside to potty.

LOL No dogs in the house is a weird, weird, thing!

Enjoy Switzerland. I loved my visit there. I hear from other Europeans that the Swiss are "an unusual bunch" but I must be unusual, too, because I had no issues in either the more German or French areas.

Have fun! I always sleep better with a little butt in the middle of my back or the one that keeps shifting around. Sherri's correct, sleeping without them is like being in a hotel. lol

ohhh la la, Switzerland! i'm totally envious, i'm not really willing to leave my dogs to travel many places but i want to visit Switzerland one day. have a great time!

yeah, no dogs in the house is downright creepy. i remember when my family went on a cruise - going to sleep was really weird and i missed my dogs like crazy.

i worked with a really neat kiddo in san diego, his mom was from Switzerland & his dad was a Navy Seal from Oklahoma. she was one of the coolest people i've ever known. and i loved, loved, loved the way she and her little tow head blue eyed sweetheart son would always say 'hejda' (sounded like hi-doo when she said it!) when they'd leave.

have some fun, your babies are gonna have a blast at sleep away camp and i think it's so sweet Ginger gets to sleep in bed with Granny & Papaw

SO EXCITING! Have a great time!

I hope the dogs have fun and get spoiled too. Grandma's have a way of undoing training (both kids and dogs) but they often give good treats and cuddles :D

I thought I commented! Anyway! Have fun! Maybe the hotel will let you rent a pup. ;) I didn't know you got a new job, congrats. I know you didn't like your old one.

So far I'm having a blast!!! It's SO beautiful here. I'm working my hiney off (and will work more hours starting tomorrow) but having a great time. I do miss the dogs, but it's a nice little working vacation so to speak. Mom says the dogs are being even better than she expected. Pia has even decided that Mom passes muster, and is now being Mom's lap dog every night.

Chocolate. Ermagherd. I've landed in heaven.

Sounds like a very nice change of pace! Good for the dogs. They're always better for someone else, aren't they?
