(hair)Shirts vs Skins

Postby QBert » Sat Feb 23, 2013 6:22 am

Walk around a public gathering with Boogie, freshly groomed to the nines as if for the breed ring, freshly shaved, and people either ask "WTH is that??!!??", recognize her as "one a dem Uglee Dawg dogs!", or recognize her as a Chinese Crested.

Walk around a public gathering (population heavily skewed to dognerd)with Boogie, freshly groomed to the nines au naturel and people (very very few people, almost all Crested fanciers to begin with) ask "is... is that a Crested?", ask if she is a Pyr Shep, or comment on how much they like Portuguese Podengo... *headdesk*

She has a LOT of hair for a hairless! She cleans up nice either way, though :)

nah, Pyr Shep as in Pyrenean Shepherd. It's not really a bad guess, although she's very small for the breed, she is also quite large for a Crested and I have said several times that PyrSheps look like giant harsh-coated Puffs.

well, the current strategy is to leave her as is - that way if she ever flips her lid in public I can shave her down before the next outing and nobody will recognize her.

of course this strategy may involve a repeat of the great balding of 2010 (when I hacked off 28" plus of my own hair) so that no one will recognize ME either...
