A few things you'll need to do:

1. Clear your cookies for ODO to get everything to display properly.

2. Recreate your signatures and avatars (these were not transitioned from the old forum) in the User Control Panel.

3. I will eventually post a thread for the "old hands" of the forum to get their custom titles.

Is there a "quick start guide" or anything like that?

Unfortunately no, but there is a pretty extensive FAQ:
http://www.ourdogsonline.com/faq.php

If you click on "user control panel" (link near the top left of the page) you will have access to all the customization features.

I think those are the red circles. the blue ones are no new posts.
is that what you meant?

oh, or did you mean that page with the summary and the subject line of the most recent post in each section?

There is a "view active topics" link at the top of the forum index:
http://www.ourdogsonline.com/search.php ... ive_topics

I'm not sure yet how it works though, it might take 24 hours to start flagging posts.

You also have quick links for "unread posts" and "new posts" there.

On the upside, you can also bookmark threads now, and the PM system is more like an actual email system, with lots of options.

Hi all! Finally found my way back. The military time thing is boggling my mind. Then again the mind is easily boggled these days.

You can set your date/time preference and time zone in your user profile under "board preferences". :)

ha! I went into the control panel to set my display to a 24 hr. clock and Euro date format before I even looked to see what the default was!

Do we have colour options with this software? I found where to change it to the mobile view which is a different colour, but that's not quite what I was looking for. I like this layout, but wow, the colours are hard on my eyes after using the soft blue/green for so long.

It may have taken a few more hours than expected to get the board back up, not to mention starting ten hours late, but that's due to Sabine dragging me off to the beach to watch the blue light show in the waves.

bioluminescent algae tides are a perfectly valid excuse - it was the whole sleeping thing that had us tearing our hair out!

Panther says he will work on that eventually, when he has some time.

There's nothing "out of the box" that would fit ODO with all its modifications.

will we get our homeless dog block widget back? Did the server change signify the end of The Big Headed AlienAllen club?

I would really like that, but not sure if it is doable.

The new forum software is strictly a forum, whereas the old one was a whole, modular "portal system" with options for different layouts.

An interesting thing about the pictures, Panther's picture had scroll bars even though it was smaller than QBerts. When I clicked on each picture, the scroll bars disappeared and the picture got bigger. With QBert's, I did have to use the mouse to move down the picture because it filled my whole screen.

Oh yay! I like the unread and new posts feature. We have that on my teacher board, and it's the way I like best for reading the forum!

The mobile site makes me go :help: , though.
