Talking about cute things our dogs do

Postby Sabine » Sun Mar 07, 2010 5:10 pm

Friday evening my husband went out with a friend and on their way home he called me and asked if he should bring me some food back (they were stopping for dinner).

When Panther got home, he held out the paper bag with the burrito and tortilla chips to Quigley and told him to bring it to me - and he did!

We play a lot of fetch games and Quigley gets the newspaper from the front yard each day, but he had never before been asked to take a bag of food (yummy-smelling people food no less!) and deliver it. That was just so cute!
Of course he got "payment" in form of a tortilla chip. lol

GOOD dog, Quigley!

Ole would totally fail. He ate my peanut butter sandwich right off my desk yesterday when I turned my back for just a few seconds!

Wow - that's impressive. I doubt a bag of food would make it more than a few steps here  Good boy Quigley!

Super impressive!!!!! Roscoe and Bella would assume I was giving them the bag to shred and devour along with the contents. lol

My grandparents' dog would get a plain burger from McD's on certain occasions, and she always had to carry the bag into the house before she could have it. :D

That's actually what Panther expected, so he was all set and ready to rescue my dinner if necessary.

That is completely awesome! Havana *might* do that one day, but we all know the outcome if he'd tried that with Cousteau.

My chowhounds would have thanked him profusely for the gift ... I never would have seen it and he couldn't have saved it either. Once you hand it off, it's not yours anymore ... :p

I can tell you exactly what my terrier would have done...he would have taken it in his mouth and ran like hell past me and then had my DH in hot pursuit until we had him cornered and pried it loose from his tightly clenched jaws!

You didn't mention that I handed your food to Quigley in another room out of sight of you.

I am SOOOOO impressed! Sadie would have swallowed it, bag and all, one one-hundredth of a second after it left Panther's hand. Charley would have sniffed it and then probably slunk off with it. Belle would have turned her nose up at it ("What, not prime rib? Princesses don't eat burritos!"), and Oliver would still be standing there with his nose to the hand, doing nothing.
Mom to Maggie. Ever remembering Sadie, Charley, Caleb, Belle, Oliver, Shiloh, Eddie, Mitzi, Allie and Emma.

Very impressive! I can't picture either one of our dogs doing that though! Good boy, Quigley!

The additional info makes the feat all the more impressive, Panther.

Pofi would have trotted right past me with the bag and headed upstairs to eat it ON MY BED!

Mia would have settled down to shred and inhale, but probably would have done just a little happy dance first and would shake the bag about a bit in victory celebration.

Oh wow...that is cool! Pepper *might* have been able to resist temptation. Any of the others? Oh yeah, they would have delivered it to me, still in the bag too. Not a doubt in my mind I would have gotten this bag of food....

in a pile of sh*t in the front yard. lol
