Thuja and Lyssin?

Anyone familiar with these homeopathics for vaccine detox? I've had a few people suggest that perhaps a factor in zeke's temperament issues could be from getting all of his vaccines at the same time. I did DHPP, bordatella, and rabies at the same visit both around 5 months and 14 months I think (I'l...

Re: Oral growth

That sounds like the right decision to me. That sounds stressful even for the most resilient of dogs (and humans). Hoping you find some solutions for best comfort and peace of mind for you too.

Re: Oral growth

Here's my 2 cents. We love our dogs. We all do. And we would do almost anything to help them be healthy, happy, and around for as long as we can possibly have them with us. But they are animals with a finite lifespan. One much shorter than we would like. But I find zero shame in choosing to forgo ex...

Hoping the best for Max! Isn't there something called neoplasm or something like that that is wffective on mouth tumors? I'll have to google to try to find it, but maybe someone here remembers it.

Re: CBD hemp oil for anxiety?

I actually tried it on him today. I hoped it would help him chill out for a chance to work through his issues in daycare. He was actually worse out there than usual. Granted, his outbursts at other dogs were justified (other dogs were being rude to him) but his response was over the top and we can't...

CBD hemp oil for anxiety?

Does anyone have experience using CBD/ hemp oil for their dog? A friend just gave me some left over treats from her dog who passed away. I am going to try it for Zeke but I only have enough for two doses (her dog was 20lbs). Another person I know recommended Treatibles as an option, but they are lik...

Re: Seizure or...?

Certainly possible that was a seizure. They can present in many ways. A dog I know has confirmed seizures that look like she is watching dust particles float in the air. Anyone who doesn't know her doesn't know anything is amiss, but the neurologist said they are seizures. The exhaustion you describ...

We had a rather disturbing setback last week. But his blood test came back today and his dosage is too low. So we increase and retest. Sigh.

Re: What would you do? Disreputable breeder issues.

I know she won't refund for the thyroid. I would only ask so that she can't claim I never did, even though she had the opportunity to offer it. There are several social groups on Facebook. I'd probably post there. Her Facebook page doesn't allow reviews. I am hoping for his brother to get his thyroi...

What would you do? Disreputable breeder issues.

Some of you know the entire story of Zeke's saga. I have tended to stay quiet in public arenas about the issues he has had and the poor response I've had from his breeder about all his issues. I am trying not to make this a novel. I am curious about the opinions you may have regarding my responses t...

Re: Hypothyroid Zeke

Update on Zeke. Three weeks into medication and I think I can say that I see a difference. He is still reactive occasionally, but at agility class today he was markedly more calm and collected. He was thoughtful and responsive. He is usually a wiggly, slightly frantic worker. It was pleasant and hap...

Yes, so we are continuing our dedicated training regimen. My hope is that the medication will take the "edge" off and allow him to actually be thoughtful about all his triggers rather than the seemingly emotional response he currently demonstrates.

Re: Hypothyroid Zeke

Dr. Dodds said that at a minimum we need .4mg. Since I already purchased the .3 mg tabs I opted to give him one and a half tabs BID which works out to .45mg. She said she would not give him .6 so this is a good compromise. It's been one week. I don't see too much in his behavior that has changed yet...

Re: Hypothyroid Zeke

As it turns out, she already replied and said she really suggests the higher dose given his behavior history. At a minimum, .4mg twice daily. I would still love to hear any experiences from those that have had hypothyroid dogs. I know we've discussed it before so i will search the archives too. Than...

Hypothyroid Zeke

Zeke had blood work done at Hemopet this week. His T4 and free T4 were both low for his case (age, breed, sex, weight). Dr Dodds hasn't reviewed his test personally as she is on vacation, but her associate vet recommended treatment at .1 mg per 12-15# twice per day. This works out to .5-.6 mg twice ...

Cetyl-M for joint?

Have any of you heard of this supplement for dog joints? The vet hospital that did Zeke's OFA X-rays recommended it for his hips. I haven't done much googling yet, but was surprised to hear of a supplement I had never heard of before. Zeke came out OFA fair which technically means he isn't dysplasti...

No-hide chews

Has anyone seen these? We just got some in at our facility but they are kind of expensive. I don't want to spend $10 per chew to have it gone in 15 min. It's why I don't buy bully sticks anymore either. Too expensive for the time I get out of it. I have no idea how they are made. I wish I could diy ...
