Re: Why do I hate trialing my dogs so much?

Henry and I have never gone to a trial, and likely never will. But we will continue to go to class for as long as he's enjoying it because, as you said, it's a social activity and he loves it. The trainers at our facility tailor the classes to the dogs who are attending, so when we took competition ...

Tylee's Dog Food?

Anyone know anything about this stuff? Tylee's Human Grade Dog Food seems to be a Chewy.com (therefore PetCo) product. They claim it's all human grade and made in a human food facility. I was surprised to see the claim, since I know THK went to court to be able to market with that claim. I don't hav...

Yep, I'd start over with potty training 101 for him. He sounds like a sweet guy. FWIW, we never had trouble housetraining the poodles we had growing up.

Re: When a friend gets a designer dog from a breeder

Ahhhh! I so feel you! I have friends who have done exactly the same thing, and it's always a doodle too damn it. Well, not always, one friend has bought a couple of labs from breeders, but she researched the breeders pretty thoroughly because she was looking for, as your friend, the right temperamen...

Re: Do you have advice for Snevinters diet (after spleen removed)?

Welcome! Home made is always best :) You control the ingredients and the quality! Of course, it has to be appropriately balanced, but you know that. If home made isn't an option, then a premade raw is a good choice, though as Lisa said, if infection is an issue then raw may not be ideal. My previou ...

Kidney failure is no fun. I went through it with Oliver, but we just kept adjusting his diet. Thank goodness beagles will pretty much always eat.

Just delete that text and erase it from your mind. People like that aren't entitled to real estate in your brain.

You are doing a super hard thing, and you're doing it because it's what's best for Fannie, not for any other reason. If L can't see that well that isn't on you.

Re: Goodbye to the Cinnamondog website?

I love the website, but I agree with your reasoning that it may be time to retire it. I used to refer to it pretty regularly. These days, those questions just don't come up with the same regularity from people. As you say, much of what you did with Sander was so out of the norm at the time but is re...

Re: 11th Annual "What Are You Gonna Do With Your Dogs?" thread

I didn't write up any goals for Henry and I last year but we started classes and had a grand time. He passed "Elementary School" and did so well he skipped "Middle School" and went right to "High School". He was also given the opportunity to take his CGC test after Elementary School (they generally ...

Oh, yes, clean up the sores! That was another thing the dermatologist really focused on. He got all those sore, red, infected spots treated so they weren't being spread around poor Babe's body.

One of the dogs in my senior program had a similar experience. Apoquel worked well for awhile, but it's effectiveness gradually lessened over time, and she too was getting severe ear infections in addition to the itching. Her adopters took her to a dermatologist, and I'm not sure what the final cour...
