Re: Thinking about... Going on vacation and leaving reactive

Are you doing any training with a trainer now and if so, will you continue training Kobe in the UK. If so, trainers are a good source for finding responsible house-pet sitters.

Re: Rosso has a torn ACL :(

I hope Rosso will be on the mend soon.

Colleen had Dylan on a brace for a tear and he did quite well considering his size. He was moderately active with walks.

She is on FB but sadly, Dylan has gone to the bridge.

Training Update

Georgie and I had our first private lesson with Tawn today. She is my regular group trainer but I won 2 hours with her from our annual raffle. We worked on G's response to being around other dogs that aren't in her group and spent a lot of time letting her calm down and do a lesson plan. Her recalls...

Re: Dr. Yin Seminar

Good job, Ace reporter Paige.

I use a lot of about turns when walking Georgie because it distracts her from other things on the street that scare her,I.e. garbage trucks, etc. Unfortunately, dogs, not so much.

I'm in the Doghouse

I had Georgie cut down due to her coat flying everywhere. It may have been selfish of me but brushing her has not helped and the dander is bad enough without having loose hair everywhere. This was an experiment to see how she grows out and will adjust accordingly. So far, I've had some flack for tak...

I'm sure that's it. She'll have class and Dax tomorrow so it's all good (I hope). If he tries to mount her now, it's his hormones, not hers.

New Dilemma

Georgie is feeling so much better...to the extreme. She is hopping and chasing Carnegie around the house and he wants no part of it. She is play bowing and play barking and he has his paws covering his ears and eyes. As I type this she is in her crate and he is sulking in the other room. I guess she...

Re: Georgie on the Mend

Yes, I got her from South LA Shelter. She was sick so they released her to me un-spayed with a voucher but it was only good for a month and she was only 6 or 7 months old. I wanted to wait until she was at least a year old and had 1 heat.

It's hard with the cone on. She isn't distracted enough by the treats (steak) not to try to lick. :frown:

Re: Georgie on the Mend

Just got back from the vet. She broke some stitches and has an infection but the suture line is intact so more antibx and pain meds. I de-cone her during walks, food and drink breaks. I have to keep her on Ace to prevent more panic while wearing the cone. I must say, however, how good she is when I ...

Re: Georgie on the Mend

It's been 6 days since the surgery an it looks like she popped a couple of stitches by rubbing her tummy on her bed. She is still wearing the cone cause she is dying to lick. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow to double check her suture line. She is throwing out all possible stress signals, lip lick...

Re: Georgie on the Mend

You're right Sherri, it's not a cone of shame, it's freedom. Right now, she feels miserable because she has to wear it until the stitches come out. She desperately want to lick and bite the area and she can reach it from all angles. Once she is free from it, I hope she will come back to being her bo...

Fun day out. Kobe is such a Border Collie. Can you do any herding instinct testing where you live - he looks like he'd love it.

Georgie on the Mend

Baby girl was spayed this week and is not happy about it. She went into heat 2 months after being in heat in June due to a cyst on her ovary, which could have left her in heat indefininately (which would mean no more play dates with Dax). She is finally sleeping with the cone of shame on but it took...

Re: Dora has a new home

I can only add the same sentiment as the others. You did what you had to do for your wellbeing but also for Dora's. I thought the Spudster would be the ringleader - the fact that she is the caregiver shows you how she has matured.

Looking forward to seeing pics of Dora in her new home.
