Re: 7 weeks or 8 weeks?

Human socialization is critical beginning at 7 weeks so if at 7 weeks the breeder isn't doing a lot of human contact (i.e. the dogs are separated fromt the humans most of the day), then my vote is still for him to come home with you if the others have also moved on. That's my point...I wouldn't want...

Re: shipping dogs as cargo

Some airlines won't transport bully breeds. Peronsally, from the bad experiences I read, I wouldn't do it.

Re: 7 weeks or 8 weeks?

If staying that extra week means he gets to be with his littermates and mom and will be socialized to people and things while he is there, I think staying a week is a good idea. However, if that week will give him no socialization benefit and he is fully weaned, I'd say get him and start that all im...

Plenty of older dogs get distemper and parvo if not immune to them. We have seen it in the shelter environment alot.

Re: EXTREME attachment to owner

I attended a seminar last year by Nicole Wilde on separation anxiety. It was very enlightening. Just because a dog isn't being destructive, doesn't mean the dog isn't suffering from separation anxiety. So many things to factor into this story: is the dog sitting home all day long with nothing to do ...

You are welcome to share with them the story of a bite case I took on of a totally chilled out black lab that put 14 puncture wounds in the two year old daughter's head when she got into the crate. They "never saw it coming" as he was a chillded out, relaxed, loves everybody dog. The dog lost his li...

Re: Dog Hosting

I have never heard it called "hosting" before but I like that! I have a friend and fellow volunteer who does dog sitting in her home and she has regular clients for her Canine Cottage as she calls it and she is "Aunt Betty" to all the dogs. My dogs have stayed with her in the past....I think it's a ...

KaeJae wants Boy to know that cat tootsie rolls rock the universe and rabbit poo comes in second. Both can give you a good case of stinky boy gas, though.

Re: Thoughts about rewarding recall

I do much of my class offleash but still much of it on leash. I only have four dogs per class because I am the only instructor and I find that big classes just don't "fit me". We work, then we have offleash play and then we work some more. I think puppies learning to play together is critical for so...

Amanda, I got a v.m. from Dr. Andrew this morning. She made contact with the people at French Bulldog Rescue Network and they'd like to talk to your friend. They don't typically foster and return the dog, but they are open to talking to her about options if she can cover costs. Has she reached out t...
