Re: Strange behavior: Suddenly scared of all loud noises

One was white blood cell count, which goes along with his intolerances. We did a stool sample too as he has had some diarrhea again lately. No results yet though as I collected several samples to test for giardia. The other were monozytes, which the vet says could indicate something tumorous, but it...

Re: Strange behavior: Suddenly scared of all loud noises

A person I know had the idea to give pain meds for a week to see if it changes things, if it does we know there is some pain somewhere, if it doesn't he at least isn't in pain. He said he had done this before with aprupt behavior changes and says it helped. I may consider this.

Re: Strange behavior: Suddenly scared of all loud noises

Oh, chiropractic, that may be an idea, although he does not show any signs of different sleeping, positions, playing, etc. I will see if I find someone around here. I agree on the noises. My friend wonders if maybe something happened while I was gone and he had no-one to read off how to react or if ...

Re: Strange behavior: Suddenly scared of all loud noises

He is roughly 2.5 years old. He has not shown panic like this before, but he did used to jump off my bed when the heater in my old apartment went on and go to his crate or dogbed instead. He is pretty relaxed about being in new places, etc. though and not usually scared of things. I even used to wal...

Strange behavior: Suddenly scared of all loud noises

So I need all of your help: Ranger has been acting strangely lately. His blood work came back all good except for 2 values but which are only slightly raised and not of concern. He physically checks out as healthy. A couple weeks ago he suddenly started to be calmer than usual in the house. I assume...

Food update

So just to keep you guys updated: Ranger is still on his new kibble and is doing great on it. I am still looking for an alternative/addition to it. So far any canned food he has not been doing well on even if it only contained ingredients he is supposed to tolerate. I ordered some pure 100% single p...

pig ears or other chews

So I read up on pig ears today and am reading a lot of different opinions. Interestingly Germans seem to not want to feed anything pig while I never hears about that as much in the US, while in the US I did hear people worry about cow which I never hear here lol Anyway, I have been adding some pig s...

Re: Insurance

I wish I had had Ranger insured when I got him, but who thought a pup of 7 months would be that expensive with vet bills? haha Since I moved he is insured. It is required here to at least have liability insurance on your dog and since its the same company I at least got a surgery insurance. Probably...

Re: Dog Food Quality

Problem is I am unable to find a canned food with only the meats in them he can have. They always have potatoe in them too or rice. I also have to feed half half, I simply cannot afford it otherwise at this time. He is tolerating the new kibble well which is good because at least I am away from i\d ...

Re: Dog Food Quality

Sabine, if I buy a canned meat with e.g. potatoes or rice, what vegetables would you recommend getting in flakes? He cannot have carrots or most fruits, but I found some that don't have those. I am just not sure if certain flakes are better than others? This is the cheapest I have found so far: http...

Re: Dog Food Quality

That may be a good idea too. Although buying canned meat plus flakes might already add up to the same price again as getting quality canned. I will check on that though. If it is cheaper I may find something he tolerates with that and feed that mostly and just use some kibble for his toys.

Re: Dog Food Quality

He should be ok with those ingredients according to the bioresonance hair analysis and she tested the food too and said it is ok, not perfect but tolerable and I think its definitely better than keeping him on the id. Btw, so far the bioresonance has been absolutely correct about his intolerances. H...

Re: Dog Food Quality

Thanks Sherri. I know kibble isn't ideal, but cooking really isn't an option at the moment and Canned food alone is too pricy, so I need some kibble in addition. Unfortunately, this is the only one I can find with a single protein he is tolerating and that doesn't have a huge list of other ingredien...

Dog Food Quality

Hi everyone, so I found a food that I am thinking about putting Ranger on instead of the ID. I don't think it is ideal in composition, but it is the only kibble I can find that has limited ingredients that looks somewhat decent. I plan to feed him a canned food with it, but I do want some kibble for...

Re: Interesting..hair analysis results

I never actually got a diagnosis of IBD. I never got any diagnosis for that matter. I was send home with the id and tylan, after other drug treatment routes. The holistic vet I saw was in July when he was still on raw/cooked chicken and rice and she was not good lol. I had to go with what the vet sa...

Re: Interesting..hair analysis results

They are low, not completely gone ;) sorry, bad wording, sometimes I don't think when I type things from German to English. I am sure that if they were gone gone she would send me to a vet immediately. EPI, pancreatitis and SIBO was ruled out by the internal specialist back in October. So I think th...

Re: Interesting..hair analysis results

I understand skepticism, in all honesty, I am one too. But considering that regular vet care has done nothing for Ranger in terms of his GI issues, I think I will just try it. I don't really have lots to loose at the moment since he is not showing any really bad symptoms, but he is also not as well ...

Thanks Lisa.

Lets hope the analysis caught it early and with the treatment it may never be an issue again, who knows. At least I know what to look for in case there's ever any symptoms.

Re: Interesting..hair analysis results

Ps: anyone know how to get b12 to a dog except injection? She says he needs some. But idk if the regular vet will just inject it based on the hair analysis (I don't know where he stands with these things as I never brought a dog to him only our cat)

Re: Interesting..hair analysis results

He had several blood works done last year for his diarrhea and they were always normal (last one in August I think), I don't know if they looked at TBDs specifically too, but at least ehrlichiosis should have shown on the WBC from what I read. But idk for sure. Since the hair analysis vet didn't rus...

Lisa, that's what the hair analysis vet said too. So will see what happens when we change food. The id actually does not have much in it that he cannot tolerate according to the analysis. But it may make a difference still.

Re: Interesting..hair analysis results

I think the bug bites theory is almost impossible to prove though as it is unlikely that a dog has never ever had a tick on him or her. So it could always have be a tick and since symptoms show so delayed who remembers or even notices a tiny bug bite? Idk, just thinking, not trying to make science lol

Re: Interesting..hair analysis results

Oh yeah, I remember I read something about blood to blood transmission too. I do see how it could be transmitted by other bugs as well. Anyway, he is not showing any symptoms except maybe some tiredness at the moment. I may just give him what she prescribed since its homeopathic and I don't think as...

Re: Interesting..hair analysis results

I also don't know where she got it from, could be recent developments, which I don't think is too far fetched necessarily. There's lots of dogs taken to Germany from other countries, rescues especially from overpopulated warmer climate countries, so it is prevalent here, idk. It is confusing.

Re: Interesting..hair analysis results

Yeah, well its what I am most suspicious of too. So I am tempted to go to my vet to have him tested with the risk of it not showing up. She has not yet mentioned a price for the medicine tho, so will see, she may just send me a prescription since it has to come via mail and she never mentioned how t...
