Re: MP had to be stapled shut: aftercare questions

Whenever Ella had tramadol, she peed and pooped in her sleep. It just made her sleep so soundly she was unaware. Maybe switch to Rimadyl? It will still help with the pain but won't make her out of it.

Poor MP and poor you. I would have freaked the F out.

Re: Fraggle vibes request

The wound is looking good. She's not making sad sigh when she has to rest her head down. I've been surprised she hasn't been able to scratch it with her back leg, because she can get the other side of her neck, but this is on the same side as her FHO/bad leg, and it doesn't have the control or stren...

Fraggle vibes request

So Fraggle had an odd skin growth I noticed about 2 months ago. I wasn't sure how long it had been there, as it is at the base of the pouf on the back of her neck and it might have been hidden a while. We saw the vet a month ago, and then today she had her dental + growth removal. The vet had said '...

I agree on your thoughts on chemo. It is not something I would consider either unless there was a significant curative potential (ie with leukemia). I am for quality over quantity of life as well. Still, I hope he has plenty of squirrel chasing days left.

My thought (once you ruled out the possible health issues) is dementia? Is he just forgetting that 'don't chew stick like things I find in the house' is even a rule?

Re: Help for dry paw pads with odd cracks, sort of

I used to put baby socks on Ella after I soaked and then moisturized her pads. It was hilarious. Then someone gave her bunny slippers, and it was truly amazing. We also had Kerasolve gel that had salicylic acid in it, to sort of dissolve some of the hard skin that built up, along with some moisturiz...

Re: "Snapping"

People suck. That is a totally reasonable reaction for a dog to have to another dog stealing their bone. Air-snapping, like growling, is just a warning, because dogs can't actually talk. I explained this a lot about my 'crazy' dog's growling and teeth-baring. She's using her 'words' to tell you/your...

Re: Roughest pads in the land

Ella had that. They were awful. It improved on better food, coconut oil, and fish oil, but for a while they were so bad I also bought a humidifier, soaked her feet in water/apricot oil, and put on special lotion followed by baby socks or bunny slippers to keep her from licking it off. It was only a ...

Re: Best Home Prepared Techniques

This is interesting...should i ever get back to that. I feel slightly guilty about stopping, but fraggle's food has to be ground/extra finely diced or she chokes, adding one step (and major cleanup of the grinder) too many. She gagged on a chunk of sweet potato I dropped cooking dinner last night an...

German Shepherd in Houston TX (can transport)

My sister found a 1 year old male German Shepherd while in Baytown for work. He is super sweet and seems to have a good temperment. Needs a foster in TX ideally. She will travel to bring him within 3 hours of Baytown/Houston or can fly him to CA if a foster can be found. She found him emaciated on t...

This might be strange, but maybe these banana-pb-oat cookies? http://watching-what-i-eat.blogspot.com/2012/06/peanut-butter-banana-oat-breakfast.html Leave out choc chips, nuts, and protein powder, and you can also add 1/4-1/3 cup melted coconut oil if you think that might improve taste to them. Fra...

Re: Fraggle, now with 33% fewer teeth

I will have to try and find that gauze, and maybe a tinier brush if I can get her to accept the gauze. She hates the finger brush too. I have the 3 sided one and it is kind of large for her mouth. Her mouth was probably not feeling very well recently, but she has hated all things in her mouth for as...
