Re: Hand Stripping

Yes, throat, belly, sanitary area (I only strip the butt), inside of back legs are all sensitive. I just take it slow and use a stone rather than a knife, or do it by hand only. As a puppy he freaked out a lot more, these days I can usually just lay him on his side and work on him that way. FYI, I b...

Re: Puppy vaccination

Ditto on Dr. Dodds' protocol. I did only one more puppy vaccination (parvo/distemper only) after the one he got at 7 weeks from Sherri. I think a lot of it really depends on where you live, and even more so on what you do with your dog. Since I hunt Dax, and he is exposed to all kinds of wildlife (a...

Re: Hand Stripping

Great job! I love stripping as much as I love a nice wire coat. Dax grows hair like a yak, so I try very hard to work on him about 15 minutes once a week, every week. Make some notes on where her hair grows faster, so you can work towards getting into a proper pattern. For Dax the problem area tends...

Re: AKC Trick Dog title -- looks like fun!

Any idea how this is different from the Do More With Your Dog trick titles? I'm loathe to give the AKC any of my money, but Henry is having a ton of fun at tricks class. There are some slight differences. DMWYD also has two different streams, one where you send in a check list and get a "certificat...

I'm just about out of here to pick up my mom from the airport, so right now I'll just post this: http://www.dogandcatdentist.com/faq.html Dr. Tsugawa is the dental specialist who took care of Quigley, with multiple surgeries and many extractions. He has a lot of good info on his site. IMO, keeping o...

Yay! Favorite thread! :) 2017 Recap Classes/Training: * Pretty much carry on as we have been in our Wednesday class, unless something better comes along (again...) It’s still our best option for proofing in a high-distraction environment. --- I stopped going to group classes because it wasn't really...

They already responded! Thank you for e-mailing in your question. I'm forwarding this on to the Tylees team to get you the specific Nutritional information you are looking for. In terms of "human grade", all ingredients are purchased from human food manufacturers and are produced, stored and transpo...

Re: Tylee's Dog Food?

I know it's been on offer on Chewy for a while, but I don't know anything about the food itself, other that that nothing in the ingredient list raises any red flags. As for the "human grade" claim, there's no legal definition, but one of the factors regarding THK is that it's made in a facility that...

Re: I hate tumors

I'm so sorry to hear this.

Have you looked into Neoplasene at all? A number of people I know of had great success with it in their dogs. Unfortunately the website is down, but you could call Scott Valley Vet at (530) 468-5366 and ask for Dr. Art Spencer. He consults.

I'm sad for you that you had to go through all this, but hopefully this will be the perfect solution to a better life for him and you.

I'm sending lots of positive vibes your way, Nana. It's the most difficult time, having to say goodbye. For a long time you've made the best decisions for MP, and given her the most wonderful life a dog could have. I'm sure you'll do the same thing one last time, when it's necessary. You are both in...

Re: Flying with Puppy

Welcome to ODO! I hope you'll enjoy hanging out here. There are pros and cons to either flying or driving. My personal preference would be driving, if feasible, since you'll have the opportunity of spending a considerable amount of time with the puppy and plenty of opportunities to expose him or her...

Re: Benson's diet - CHF and lower sodium?

You only really need to look at the as received figure (this is the same as "as fed" really, just different terminology from the testing lab), since water indeed ads very little in the way of nutrients. For companies that don't provide this info (Petcurean does, btw., so look at their canned foods),...
