Re: Puppy roller coaster - long

Jean - you can send Eddie! Quite frankly I was shocked she didn't want more too. But we did talk a lot, she knew exactly where we lived, and we knew some common people - including 2 people who had her dogs. I'm not going to argue it - she has a great reputation. Connie - I would have laughed if it h...

Puppy roller coaster - long

Some time ago, after Maggie died, I saw a site with the most beautiful goldens for sale. I wrote the guy asking when he might be breeding again as we weren’t quite ready. He wrote me early this week saying he had another litter if we were interested. (take a look at “newenglandgoldens.com”). He said...

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

Ollie's gone. He was having trouble with balance this morning. The vet thought he was bleeding internally. He was the best all around dog we've ever had.

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

Ollie was so good on Wednesday - gobbling food, running and playing. He ate breakfast yesterday, but nothing last night or today. Tried canned dog and cat food, chicken, cereal and milk, soup, ice cream, pizza and peanut butter. Nada.

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

Ollie update;

He seems really good - happy and healthy. However, he is done with rice, chicken, hamburg, roast beef and most cheeses. He'll only eat ham at the moment, and one kind of American cheese. Of course, we have to hand feed him.

Re: Cognitive Dysfunction/Barking

I remember those days well with our first golden. I can't help with any suggestions. Once he couldn't climb the stairs to be with us, he would bark continuously at night unless I was with him. So I slept with him rather than my wife for a while. He was warmer.

I got to meet Sherri and Henry today! They were sweet and cute respectively (or was it the other way around?). Henry was really adorable and well behaved.

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

I brought him to the vet thinking it was a tooth. The vet says his teeth are all fine. Thankds for the suggestions - we'll keep working on it. Tonight I bought a load of cheese, ham, and roast beef. He ate like a pig.

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

What does digestive support mean? Like what? He does have meds to increase his appetite. He keeps bringing us to his food - but takes a sniff when we get it out and rejects it no matter what it is.. Then he starts over again getting excited about bringing us to his food - like he's really hungry, an...

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

Well, he acts better. No diarrhea. He's going up and down the stairs. He seems happy and active. BUT, he's not eating. He put up his nose at hamburg after eating it for a day. He ate one meal of steak. Today the only thing he's eaten was cheese. This is awful. Chloe will become a blimp.

This? "she thinks one whole capsule twice a day would be OK". If that's it, does that mean two capsules daily or one split in half morning and night? Thanks.

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

Thanks so much for your help Judy and Lisa. You can't imagine how much it means. Ollie certainly seems to be eating less and less each day including hamburg and rice- and while he looks good, isn't running around. He has been having trouble with diarrhea as well. He will go up the stairs, but will n...

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

Judy - that would be great. I sent my address (I think). Thank you. Ollie still seems so good. He's initiating play with Chloe and running all over and seems real happy. There are two odd things tho over the last few weeks. (1) Instead of lying at my feet, he sits and just stairs at me intently. (2)...

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

Thanks all. The Vet just called me and said that based on the ultra sound it's cancer and is throughout the liver. They said they could do some surgery and see if it has spread to other places, but did not recommend it. They mentioned steroids and putting him on antibiotics. They said he could only ...
