Re: Advice please... Tail and neuter issues

My heart just breaks for him having to deal with so much pain in his short life, and for your wallet, and not getting the dog that you went out of your way to try to acquire. I really hope this improves markedly as he grows.

I just saw on FB that he was out of surgery and zipped here to see what for. I sure hope this is the end of lameness for him and he recovers easily.

Re: Bilious vomiting syndrom

That sounds like Sam only he also has a really obvious sensitivity to fatty foods and big changes too. he just recently had a flare up and went off his food, had watery stool. Sure enough being off his food at all means urping of bile and more days of misery. can't win. please keep us posted on what...

Re: Advice please... Tail and neuter issues

I'm curious now as to what Zeke's parents and grandparents have for hip scores. I mean yes, we all know dogs with good hips can produce a puppy with CHD and that it will hopefully seem better as he grows, BUT STILL. She should be refunding your money per the contract. If I was in your shoes, I would...

Re: Advice please... Tail and neuter issues

I second what Nana said about ace. Poor Zeke has had such bad luck, I wouldn't want to risk it. I would rather rely on the sedation and pain relief from the narcotic and be able to assess how he's feeling. Bone broth has been super useful for me for dogs who are reluctant to drink. It has been more ...

Re: Advice please... Tail and neuter issues

I don't know what TPO is, will google. I hope the Adequan and glucosamine make him comfortable and let him live comfortably for a long time . Your experience with Zeke if one of the reasons I bought insurance for Will, unfortunately not until after I'd spent almost $500 money on allergy testing (whi...

Re: Allergic reaction: Any way to hasten the purge?

Hmm I sure hope it's not the gabapentin if she needs that for pain management. I don't know of any ways to speed up recovery from an allergic reaction other than antihistamines (which you are doing) and steroids. It's sure handy that you keep a journal! That will come in handy trying to figure this ...

Re: Ethics of dog bite reporting

It would be a good idea to teach your kids to "be a tree" (stand still, cross their "branches"/arms across their chest and turn sideways and look away rather than "shoo". Shooing is going to escalate things more often than not whether it's a friendly dog being jumpy or an unfriendly dog being threat...

Re: Ethics of dog bite reporting

That's a tough one. I really don't know what I would do without having seen the incident. My gut reaction is that I would probably not report a bite that didn't either break skin or bruise, especially if that puts the dog at risk of being killed and might mess things up for other dog owners as you d...

Best for being long lasting? I think the longest lasting thing I created was a huge kong with frozen stuff and a bully stick frozen in the center. I've only bought regular shaped bullies and the large beef tendons.

Re: Good, cost effective grain-free

I'm somewhat on the fence about grain free too. I'm not convinced peas and lentils are better for my dogs than oats and rice. have left the oldies on Acana grainless simply because Sam's belly is (finally) happy on the lamb and the beef and after all we went through--unless I have to , I'm not chang...

Re: Po's saga

Oh how frustrating. Both Carprofen and abx can be tough on the belly and those effects can last a while. Maybe the combination upset things and it'll take a bit of time to get things back to normal? I second the idea of slippery elm and probiotics.Milk thistle certainly worth a try too, I just hesit...

Re: How do you sleep?

I feel your pain. Sam seems to be having more trouble sleeping these days. He'll bark to go out at 2am and 6am but doesn't seem to need to pee so much as he is just awake. The thing that has seemed to help most is taking him for a nice, long walk in the evening. I've tried melatonin and can't say if...

I forgot the number 1 fav here: it's a raw mix of beef, beef tripe and beef organ. Sam actually gets up from his waiting place and sits and drools for it haha.

I buy the 6 pack of pink salmon at Costco to use for kibble topping. I also crumble the Orijen or Stella and Chewy's dehydrated raw on top.

I would consider taking a spectator spot in this class and working the exercises:http://classroom.daisypeel.com/courses/k9xtraining/ or using the files in the FB group canine conditioning. It's all stuff you can train as easy tricks and don't need any special equipment (ie you can use couch cushions...

How old is she now? What is the "neuro issue" ? I seem to recall she had an issue with her neck, but I don't remember beyond that. Does she have any kind of rehab program? With her physical/medical issues, I wouldn't choose to do heeling or flyball--both hard on the neck and body, creating muscle im...

Could someone sew him a tail protector that is like a backwards jockstrap? Loops around the legs and a waist band holding a tub of fabric on his tail?
