Re: Advice please... Tail and neuter issues

That's so unfair. :( I'm so sorry after all your planning and work to find the best dog for your plans. I can't imagine how disappointing this is.

Re: i've made a big mess

I think you are overstressing because of your experience with Brinca. Stink eye and bad energy just doesn't rate as that bad, imo. Especially one time among many. Dogs are allowed to have feelings too. When I feel like Bella's energy is turning (or Scout's - she can give a mean stink eye), I just in...

Re: Growly Guardy Pi

lol at Pi's "Marca, Marcia, Marcia." Not stupid at all, just too close to the situation. Others often see more clearly what's right in front of you. Reminds me of when I was asking about Bella refusing to go in her crate suddenly. I think I worried/wrote about it for 2-3 weeks before I caught on tha...

Re: Growly Guardy Pi

Whenever Bella got growly guardy with Roscoe, she just lost access to whatever she was guarding. No drama, no punishment, just "that's actually mine, Missy, and you just lost your privileges" *instantly* - either R would get the whole treat or she'd be booted off the couch or she'd have to go to a d...

Re: I'm baaaaaaacckkk!

Welcome back!! The only news I have is of a largish sum of money burning a hole in my pocket. Ahem. Otherwise, nothing much going on dogwise here. Bella is turning into a quite nice only dog, though. It's kind of sad how well she has adjusted to being a single dog; it's like she was meant for it. :h...

Re: What are clay-colored, pasty stools? (Honestly)

That's interesting! I would never have thought pasty was a texture because I've really only ever heard the term when referring to someone's complexion, and it generally means sickly pale.

Sorry we're no help, Nana. :p

Re: What are clay-colored, pasty stools? (Honestly)

I would have said clay colored was grayish. Kind of like the modeling clay you use in school. (Or if y ou're an artist??) Like #6 on this chart: http://www.basca.ch/e/vorsorge/farbenkarte/index.html http://www.mayoclinic.org/stool-color/expert-answers/FAQ-20058080 They Mayo Clinic lumps clay colored...

I think telling the kids that their actions are directly causing Havana to be sick or injured is a great idea. And I hope the basket helps too!

Re: At my wits end... Gimpy Zeke now with stomach upset!

Learned that Zeke's mom had an episode of paralysis (1-2 weeks long) during nursing of his litter. Vet said it was caused by a bacteria (no tests run) and she was treated with antibiotics, recovered and no trouble since. Two other bitches had similar episodes but did not have litters when they had ...

The fancier pet store in town gives out samples of almost everything. Maybe check with an upscale pet market for samples?

Re: What season is your dog's least favorite?

Roscoe was not a fan of wet, whether that wet was in the cold or the heat. He was so funny when we first moved to Oregon. He eventually got used to it, but it was a good thing he had an iron bladder (or maybe not iron - something super stretchy that never fills up). He'd go a full day without peeing...

Re: dog bite from a "friendly" dog

is it possible that the dog was being appeasing, rather than loose/friendly? (and was upset when he reached for him) Or that the dog wasn't landing an 'aggressive' bite, but over-aroused mouthing? (Labs? Over-aroused? Never!!) He's pretty good at recognizing appeasement vs loose and friendly, but a...

Re: dog bite from a "friendly" dog

This all makes sense. And this is probably very true for DH (and me) because we had Roscoe, who did want petting at all times. The more hands touching him the better, and if your hand left his body, he'd scoot himself back under it. I find that humans in general operate on the assumption that friend...

dog bite from a "friendly" dog

A dog bit DH at work today. Part of his job requires him to go onto other people's property and sometimes dogs are cool with that and sometimes they aren't. He's generally dog savvy, though. Knows a bit about dog body language and when to leave a dog alone and when it's being friendly. So today he w...

Oh dear, that seems evet worthy. :( And I'm very hesitant to go to the evet because of cost and because I'm always sure they're just going to say, "IDK, check with your regular vet." (Based solely on my *one* evet experience where that happened. )
