So cute!!! Exciting!

I'm going to assume coolie means something different in Canada than it does here

Never really realized how big a presence Roscoe was

The house feels so empty and quiet. :frown: No ear flapping, no snoring, no silly little moaning dreams, no thwack thwack thwack of tail against wall. No one fusses at us when we sit and stare at that box on the wall for too long. No one insists we go with him to pee. Bella's also not as exuberant a...

Re: weird thing going on with Brenna's eyes

Roscoe had something that looked like that, and they told us to put an antifungal on it. I forget the name; it was an OTC people one, though.

Re: The vet is coming out tonight

Thank you all! Knowing how much he was loved both near and far means so much to us. He was our ambassador to the world; we know far more people now than we would have without him. He was also an inspiration for how to live life: with generosity, kindness, and forgiveness, mixed with overflowing joy....

We were just remembering how he always wanted to be as close as possible to people, even people he'd just met and decided were going to be his friend forever.

Re: The vet is coming out tonight

Thanks, all. It has been a mostly peaceful day. And my grandparents and nieces stopped by to say good-bye. The girls brought flowers and a letter. My parents are out of town, so they didn't get to see him. :( He's going to be missed by many around here. image.jpg image.jpg The letter says "you are n...

The vet is coming out tonight

:bawl: Roscoe collapsed Sunday night and could barely walk. He has had a rough two days, and he just looks done. So far it has been an expression of "this sucks but I'm still here." Last night, it was, "I'm so tired of this." I'm home with him today, and vet will come after closing tonight. He's sle...

Re: Interesting Study on Dog Gazes

Roscoe's a gazer. He makes eye contact and holds it for a long time. He does it with everyone, and I'm pretty sure it's why he's so universally loved. Bella isn't a gazer. She checks in when she needs reassurance, but she doesn't like to stare at you or be stared at. Edit: I just caught her looking ...

Re: Roscoe, food, weight

Ate a chicken breast and had a tbsp of goat cheese forced upon him, as it is an effective method of pill delivery. Got sucralfate, pred, Tramadol, and cough meds. Left him from 10:40-3:00. Came home to a *flood* of urine , a pile of vomit, and a pile of poop. :( On the plus side, his poop was comple...

Re: Roscoe, food, weight

Well, he had an eating sort of afternoon. I got home from the vet around 1:30 after he had refused everything in the house for breakfast and all morning from DH. I offered him plain burgers and fries. He ate one plus fries if I handed it to him piece by piece. And then he refused it. We all went out...

Re: Well-intended but "mean" comment about MP :(

Awww, I can see why that would be upsetting, particularly when you're so stressed about her. I don't think it necessarily means he has issues with death, though. He sounds like he's an out loud thinker with no filter who has a good heart. I've wondered a million times if it's Roscoe's "time" because...

Re: Roscoe, food, weight

I decided to give pred a try. Vet said mitrazapine is not as powerful a stimulant and doesn't have the other effects that he thinks Roscoe could benefit from. He thinks the dose we had years ago was probably a very high dose and I do remember idog people commenting on how high the dose was for such ...

Re: Roscoe, food, weight

I'm calling the vet today about mirtazapine and steroids and nutrical. I probably won't go the steroid route unless he can convince me there's no risk of altering R's personality, though. He looks pretty miserable right now. He won't take his Tramadol so he's very wobbly and limpy. He refused all br...

Re: Roscoe, food, weight

I read your post to DH, and apparently I just denialed the vet's reference to this symptom right out of my head :hmm: I remembered him saying R could have whatever he wanted, but ignored the why he could have whatever he wanted and focused on the ulcer explanation. That might explain why he was more...

Re: Roscoe, food, weight

Breakfast: the rest of the burger and fries and a cup of cottage cheese, refused canned dog food, mozz cheese, and egg and any fries or burger that had touched dog food. The same dog food he ate 1/4 can of for snack last night :hmm: Just commenting here to keep track. I'd just take nets but figured ...

Re: Roscoe, food, weighte

I didn't get to TJs in time but I got sardines, cottage cheese, and yogurt for now. He *wolfed* down a McD burger and fries after refusing cheese, cat food, egg, and chicken. I brought it home for him because that's the last thing he mugged me for, though that was when he had his last vomiting episo...

Re: Roscoe, food, weight

I haven't tried digestive enzymes because he got the meds from the vet, but I think I'll ask about adding those. He's basically getting whatever he'll eat - rggs, oatmeal, chicken, pork, cheese, rice, broth, canned dog and cat food, kibble, nasty kibble samples from pet store, cookies, potato chips,...

Roscoe, food, weight

Roscoe is basically eating about 400-500 calories a day in 3-4 brief spurts of a few bites each. We feed him whatever he wants whenever he wants, and he'll eat a little bit and then give up. He seems REALLY skinny. It has been about a week of this. How much weight could he lose in one week of about ...

Re: Vomiting/nauseau/blood spot

Just threw up his breakfast and won't eat again. I was just about to give him the stomach coating meds, so I did that anyway and I'll give him an hour and try for a small dinner. It had a lot more blood in it, so the hamburger wasn't such a good idea. I should have realized "eat whatever he wants" p...
