Re: Hemopet results and eating cat poop

Two other proteins you didn't mention that aren't on Lady's sensitivity list are rabbit and bison, and there are commercial foods made with these, so there are these that you can possibly add to the safe list. Not inexpensive though, sorry.

I'm sending you all the best wishes I can. Hopefully you are still seeing improvement and the labs will not show any adverse effects from the new drug.

Re: Stomatitis- any experience?

I'm sorry, Amanda, but am glad you have a proper diagnosis and am hopefully that you'll be able to manage this and keep him stable for a long time to come. Fwiw because obviously commenting on my dog's condition is purely anecdotal, ChiChi's autoimmune issue started in early 2009 at a few months aft...

Re: Over Kill on Antibiotics?

Kennel cough is a virus that won't be helped by antibiotics, BUT dogs can also have secondary infections too, like sinus infections or the bronchitis you mentioned. I'd finish out the medications because if Lady also had something else going on along with the KC, then stopping the abx early could al...

Re: Checking in -4th of July edition

The dogs handled the pro fireworks display pretty well. I sat on the bedroom floor with them and played some loud music next to them, and the fireworks were such a constant barage of noise that I don't think it registered. Everything was fine until I came out when it was over and one of the neighbor...

Re: Checking in -4th of July edition

The self-centered inconsiderates have been firing off fireworks and shooting off guns here at random times since Friday afternoon. Tomorrow will be crazy scary, and as always, I'm hoping for rain. Would a hurricane in July be too much to ask?

I gave milk thistle to help the liver as it processed the drugs, and probiotics if pre- or post-surgery treatment included antibiotics at any point.

Re: Some concerns about Sam

Connie's words do not sound harsh to me, they sound logical and caring. I see it as a matter of everyone's quality of life in your household. If the fluid therapy and x-pen are needed occasionally to allow Sam to feel better, to resume eating, and leading a fairly normal old-dog life, then that is a...

You could try warming some of that broth that he liked and use it to wet the kibble or rehydrate the raw.

Re: Nerve Sheath Tumor

The flatness could be from the meds, and I wonder if that will get some better for Pofi as his body gets used to the effect, especially the Tramadol being a narcotic. I've heard that dogs on narcotics long-term get used to them and may even crave the next dose, much like a human addict. I may be see...

I've never received anything other than a card when I've lost pets, but I like the idea. Although these aren't specifically pet related items, I've seen some lovely wind chimes that accommodate engraving on the sail. Something like that could be ordered and shipped directly to your friend. This site...

Crazy! I hope it will be a one-time event due to clipper irritation that caused the inflammation and for the hairs to get stuck inside.

Wow, just in that round swollen spot? Or has this expanded elsewhere on the tail? Is that what those little black spots are in the picture above? I thought Heather's post on FB was great. I wanted to blast the breeder directly under each of her posts and had to push away from the keyboard. Her true ...

Re: Advice please... Tail and neuter issues

I don't like that it's swollen. The hair that remains is all short stubble. Did you trim that to get a better look or did Zeke chew it out? I'm wondering if he has some nerve pain from the amputation as it heals that is causing him to chew, and if he has caused that swelling and a bacterial infectio...

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry Ashley. Don't beat yourself up for this, please. You didn't give up on getting them out of their situation, and if you'd pushed harder last year, you may have pushed the BIL/SIL to the point that you'd never have succeeded. You had to work within the family dynamic, you ...

1) Is she all the way in the back? What about leaving the back seats in position and having her ride there with a harness & tether arrangement instead of crating? I know, not as safe but she would be more forward in the vehicle. Maybe she has trouble being crated since loose in the Civic was differe...

Do you have a separate room he could stay in overnight with the feeder so the Tervs couldn't get to him and the food? A bedroom, kitchen, bath or laundry? Or crate the Tervs and leave him loose with his feeder?

Re: Bilious vomiting syndrom

ChiChi was too acidy on 2 meals a day as a youngster and we started down that path of treating with Pepcid. Sometimes she'd be vomiting in the early morning hours before we were even out of bed. Feeding 3 times a day solved the problem, and that is still my schedule now. These wee ones sometimes nee...
