Hope he's allright. I've had similar things happen before and when I went to the vet it was deterimined to be a small sprain and no treatment advised. So I think you're on the right track to wait and see since he's improving.

Thank you, QBert. I'm going to try what you suggested. If they can eat kibble I assume they can crunch some bones. They too got to taste some bone-free raw chicken and they loved it so I expect it to work out well.
