Re: Post surgery and raw food questions

I haven’t heard of any dogs being allergic to milk thistle, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible. I’m glad her surgery went well overall and wish her a speedy recovery.

Re: Was this a seizure?

I’m so sorry. This sounds quite a bit like what Freddy went through at the end. It is horribly unnerving. Landis’ dream paddling would send me over the edge in the middle of the night during and for a long time after Freddy’s episodes. It’s just not fun at all. I hope you don’t have any more. Watch ...

Re: Does anyone use Cronometer for balancing diets?

I have heard of it, but not used it personally. I joined a face book group called raw fed and nerdy and they all obsess about the numbers. I can’t get that nit picky. I’ll lose my mind. Lol. It’s a good tool though and I may just try it with your recommendation!

A beautiful tribute for a wonderful girl. I am sorry for your loss, but so glad you got to be a part of her life despite relationship circumstances. She was so very special.

Re: What do you put on tags?

The ones I have right now say “I’M LOST! CALL MY FAMILY PLEASE!” With our address and two cell numbers. I debated over all the suggestions. No names, add names, put “NEEDS MEDS”, etc. Like Connie, I like being able to swap collars around without stressing.

Re: 13th annual “What are you going to do with your dogs” thread

2018 turned out to be so, so different than I had anticipated. Here's my recap: Landis: Keep him comfortable and happy for as long as we can. When/if his foot is healed up some more, I would like to commit to getting some sport dog workouts for senior dogs going for him. He needs hands on motivation...

Re: Are there more reactive dogs now, or am I just way more crabby?

^ ^ ^ This is why all of our agility classes require dogs in crates while other dogs are running. I’m surprised your class allows dogs out. Agility is so exciting for all of the dogs. The class I take is the only one i’ve Ever been to with other dogs present so maybe the crate rule isn’t normal for ...

Good gundog breeders are sooooo hard to find. So I tend to agree with Sabine. If you aren’t set on a particular one, choose by breeder. Though I agree, the Field Spaniel is dreamy.

Re: June 2018 Training Challenge: Leave It

So i failed this month big time. My kids are home from school (read: absolute chaos here) and we have had some other training priorities take place as I had some behaviors I needed for demoing in class. Leave it happens less formally on a regular basis so I am going to attempt to take the photos. We...

Re: June 2018 Training Challenge: Leave It

So it happened again this month A thought provoking article was shared with me that just happens to be about our training challenge. This time, from the amazing Kay Laurence. What do you all think of this? Know better, do better, right? But what about striving for better than “good enough”? And how ...

Re: How can I un-create the monster I created?

This is interesting. My friends are on the cusp of giving up their ridgeback pup... 10 months old. Partially for marking in the house. He is definitely an insecure dog. Mama’s boy for sure. I have been helping them with training a bit, and suffice to say there is a lot of back story about their situ...

June 2018 Training Challenge: Leave It

For June we are going to challenge our dogs to build their Leave It behavior! Here are the guidelines: 1. Kick off with a short description of your goal behavior as well as where your starting point is. 2. Commit to working on this behavior throughout the month. 3. Check in with progress reports onc...

So glad it is going well so far. If you aren’t in the group, there is a pretty phenomenal Facebook group called Canine Enrichment and a separate page called Canine Enrichment Joy that have super excellent ideas for puzzles and homemade games to help keep a sedate dog’s mind active.

I have been training the new puppy very consistently. She knows her name, hand touch, leave it, and we are starting a stand/stack. Jovie is on the back burner a little bit at the moment. She is preferring to snuggle during her time alone with me so I’m letting her. Besides I am so tired and a little...

Acupuncture seemed to help Zeke. And I think it will help relax muscles that may impede the work of a chiro, so don’t stress about having chosen the “wrong” method first. I have used trigger point injections before and just the needle into the spasming knot helped to relax it before the lidocaine we...
