Re: Oral growth

I am trying to digest all this as it is both familiar and unfamiliar territory. First, I am so sorry. Second, there is no wrong path and also, don't forget that you can try a treatment plan and stop it if you feel the impact to quality of life is too great. Third, and this comes from my Tripawds com...

Sending much love and courage and peace your way. My heart breaks with yours. I think MP is making sure you have a Pancakes weekend to remember and hold in your heart. Please let me know if I can do anything. And whether it is tomorrow or weeks from now, you have given her the happiest, most wonderf...

Re: My boys are gone...

Lyssa, I am so deeply sorry. We lost Pofi in October just 6 weeks past his 12th birthday to cancer and I am so mired in my grief... I get it, I really do. Wishing both your beautiful boys sweet dreams and hoping time and your memories bring solace.

Re: MP having lots of seizures :(

Nana - the 100 mg was given to me by a friend of a friend whose Greyhound lost her osteo battle. I have 56 of those left and giving at least some away seems like paying it forward. I also still have 14 of the 300 mg left from his original prescription, but the gift of the 100 mg capsules allowed us ...

Re: MP having lots of seizures :(

Oh, Nana. I am so sorry. Our aging cats had seizures due to BP issues, but in the end the BP was probably secondary to cancer; but hypertension meds completely controlled the seizures. Iggy cat also had the flat, blank look in his eyes immediately prior, when I witnessed the seizures up close. His a...

Re: Talk to me about Lyme!

Hey. Pofi was having a lameness issue many years ago and we tested for Lyme. It did show natural exposure to Lyme and also antibodies produced from Lyme vaccine ( had done vax in earlier years, but stopped). We were pretty sure it was not chronic disease yet. Did 6 weeks doxy and he has been asympto...

Re: Nerve Sheath Tumor

He was just quite excited when I was getting ready to take Mia in for a grooming. And he insisted on coming. And went into PetSmart and the grooming salon to drop her off. But then I took him into the store and he pretty much wanted to lay down right away. Same on Sunday at the dog park - super exci...

And now feeling down in the dumps again. He is just so, so flat. So depressed. I keep telling myself it is the meds. Chest x-ray and potential MRI next Friday the 6th. Which is what I wanted, but now seems interminably forever away. I did not want to have MRI and chest x-ray before we got photos tak...

A positive update as Pofi really seems to have made strides in terms of handling the meds. He is much brighter and more interactive today. Even engaged in a little fence posturing. Have been having good email exchanges with Dr. Lafond who will be lead clinician on the team. She is patiently and thor...

Re: Nerve Sheath Tumor

Update - we saw our vet today and there was a pretty clear and consistent pain reaction to pressure under the left armpit. He concurs with the U doctor's suspicion. He also believes the U is the best place for the surgery - considers it more specialist territory. Now we have to hope a lung x-ray and...

Re: Nerve Sheath Tumor

Ha. Pofi seems to be too big for the MRI that Blue Pearl has in Eden Prairie. U of MN is probably only game in town. And the price was significantly lower, so that is a plus, I guess. The volume of patients they see may mean they can actually offer a lower price. I know MRI equipment is a huge inves...

He has been on Tramadol a while now - varying the dosage and frequency to need. It really was necessary to use when his liver was in crisis from the gallbladder mucocele. Re: Nerve Sheath Tumor

Thanks, all. I really do find it hard to believe this would be the third impactful (and most seriously impactful) lump/growth in the same limb. My original consult was with U of MN was because my vet wondered if he was missing something to connect the first two. They were very different - the first ...

Nerve Sheath Tumor

Cannot believe I am writing this. Had an appointment on Friday at U of MN Vet hospital with head of rehab - another consult. The two therapists who have worked on him thought they might have more luck loosening the very tight tendons, especially the carpus, if they could sedate him and use ultra sou...

Oh, Jen, that is very stressful. It is hard for me to believe she would eat the kibble treats if they were truly rancid - don't cats have pretty good sense of smell? Hope vet finds cause and it is NBD.

Re: Pofi Snickett's Unfortunate Series of Events

Thank you all. Yes, this is the lump from November that ruptued in December. But it was only a little rupture and got smaller, but never went away. Could be a foreign body i n there. I think the pain from it was more controlled with him taking a few Carprofan a week.

Pofi Snickett's Unfortunate Series of Events

Long story short, but Pofi will be having a surgery to remove the lump (infected sebaceous cyst) that popped up on the inside of the wrist joint of the "bad" foot. We were making good progress against lameness till Christmas when it ruptured and we cultured to find abx it wasn't resistant to. And th...

Hey, LisaT_II. Sorry I missed your posts. Pofi's liver numbers after 6 weeks of Ursodiol and Denamarin, are pretty much perfect and back to where they were last summer. ALT, originally at 2,674, then down to 789, is now down to 102. Max of normal range is 151. Bilirubin also where is should be and a...

Re: Bilious vomiting syndrom

Hi, Kathleen. Don't know if you saw this, but Pofi recently had extreme nausea and we ended up with a diagnosis of gallbladder mucocele. The gallbladder gets sludgy and it impacts the liver. He threw up once and pretty much stopped eating because he was so nauseous from that point on. Have you done ...

Re: Seizure, maybe?

I would say that sounds like a seizure to me and you might ask the vet if they can check her blood pressure. With your comment on the extreme dilation of her pupils, it could be at play as a cause for idiopathic epilepsy and, if so, is easy to control.
