Re: Max is fading and I don't know how to handle it.

I hear you, all the way. All the way into a well full of tears and infinite question marks. Like Sherri said, you keep making new normals, new ways to manage, finding new ways to replace the old go-to things that made him happy—and it's so frickin' "real time" that it can feel disorienting. I don't ...

Re: Does anyone use Cronometer for balancing diets?

I don't know how I ended up in that group, but I joined it recently, too!! I totally know what you're talking about. If you were ever used to ND.com and its gradual ad-filled decline (it's been looking like it's on its way out/being abandoned for a few years now), you'd really like Cronometer....

Does anyone use Cronometer for balancing diets?

Home-prepared meal folks—did know about Cronometer.com?? I don't know how long this thing's been around, but since I'm on a MAC, I just assumed that nutritiondata.com was the only web-based thing I could use. I recently found out about Cronometer, a *far* better alternative to ND.com!! It allows me ...

I'm so sorry, Connie...and Kathleen, too. I always see these kinds of bonkers comments and think, "Ooooh shit! Re: Was this a seizure?

Oh shoot, I hate seizures. I'm so sorry. :( We used lots of CBD for MP's seizures and owies; dosage depends, but we were advised to use a lot more than the label indicates, which apparently is pretty common. My fave capsule brand is Canna Companion, and Endoca for the oils. Like Jean said, if it hap...

Re: Probable stroke

I am so sorry, you guys. If you use CBD, and it turns out that he's not into the taste, you can put it in the butt. I don't know MO weed law, but I would have gotten real marijuana-derived products for MP if it were easier. Praying his eye sight will come back. Would something like thundershirt help...

Re: What do you put on tags?

Thanks, Sabine! :) I like simple tags, but ended up putting all the stuff because kept thinking dumb things ("What if they hate the phone and won't call?") I ordered 6 for the go-to collars/harnesses, and will put an extra one as a keychain. Nuttin' gets lost now! I love those plastic ...

What do you put on tags?

Hey guys, I'm thinking that MPW seriously needs her own real tags instead of this janky temporary thing I made before she had a name!! :eek2: What all do you put on yours? I was thinking: DOGNAME Chip ID: XXXXX (123)123-4567 email@address.com CITY STATE I used to put my name and home address, but ke...

Re: Not sure what to do - ailing best friend

You're not being selfish at all; you have C's best interests in your heart and you know him best! Everyone is different and if you think he'd hate assistive stuff, then he probably would! In our very specific case, MP ended surprising me re: what she'd want/like as she lost mobility. I didn't expect...

Re: Hi All! - What's going on with Colt

I'm so sorry you're going through this with Colt! Could you possibly just give a bit more of the Rx food you know has been helping him? Smaller, more frequent meals tend to be helpful for all kinds of issues, including pancreatitis. MP did 3x/day meals for*ever*, and now Minnow, because she's too sk...

Re: Gabapentin guidance

To me, Gabapentin seems like the "safest" longer term option for dogs who can't up the NSAIDs any more than they're on/can't get on; it's a super great adjunct for reducing NSAIDs dosage and will help it kick more ass. It was extra fitting for MP because it also can raise seizure thresholds, too—so ...

Oh Emily!!!!! I'm so sorry to see this; I don't know how I missed your post for so long. *tears* I am guessing your vet(s) showed you some QoL scoring charts that might be helpful as a general guideline; there are a few around, and I did one every week for MP with my rehab vet. Re: Does Anyone Use Tick "preventative" like Nexgard (Afoxolaner)?

I hear you, Connie! I still think prevention (= prevent ticks from attaching) seems the most sensible of all the methods; kinda nuts to "circulate poison 24/7 in case a tick attaches, for however long it takes for it to work." If it must be the latter, then we sure would benefit from an as-needed, s...

Re: Does Anyone Use Tick "preventative" like Nexgard (Afoxolaner)?

Thanks, Connie! I will check out the Cedarcide product! I was looking into the picaridin stuff, although I recall a FB discussion where it wasn't as successful as DEET for some ODOers. I hate all of this. :( I was using homemade EO formulas on MP with moderate success (i.e., probably not much!) but ...
