Just really happy to hear from you and know that you have a save haven for the girls in those times needed. Hope they are few and far between in 2016.

Can't seem to find out how to update some of my profile info. I just noticed Sophie is still there, and Gunny is complaining.

Re: Never really realized how big a presence Roscoe was

Jen, how well we can all relate. It's been about 1.5 years that Sophie is gone, and JUST this afternoon I was thinking about her and broke down.
Rough on the human, but such a tribute to the creature who has left us. This is what love is all about. ((hugs))

Re: Bax- counter surfing and flower eating

Ah, countersurfing. Shades of Sophie. Gunny has done it a couple of times, but nothing like Sophie did. In fact just last week I left the full plates of food to return for beverages and Gunny was right there at the table......I didn't give it a thought! If that had been Sophie, we would have been ea...

Re: Wish us luck

It just arrived! Gunny hasn't let it out of his mouth and his tail is wagging so fast I think he's going to propel himself to the ceiling! It does stink like a new tire, but I guess that will dissipate. It is VERY sturdy. No "give" to it. I'm thinking this is going to be  I'm glad I got the...

I just ordered a Goughnut for Gunny. Round, black rubber toy that is supposed to be for destructive chewers. So far, the one black Kong has been holding up very well. He puts the big part in his mouth and works his jaw. (Remember....when we first brought Gunny home, he chewed and swallowed the top k...

I took Gunny to the vet last week for his annual exam. I was such a proud mom to see the vet-tech lovin' him up and saying what a "treat" he was as a CALM Weimaraner! Calm? I told her that was because they didn't have any geese in the office. lol Anyway he loved the schmoozing and I loved seeing the...

What's in a name? That which we call a Phil by any other name would smell as sweet. LOL

You are making me want a puppy now. But I think I will sit back and enjoy every minute of your delight instead.

Hugs and kisses to .....Quin. (I do like that name, although I'm favoring Phil.)

Thank you!
I have l-theanine in the pantry (bought for me!) and I think when the Meetup Pack Walk starts up again in Spring, I'll give Gunny one of them before we head off to the park and face the geese. :-) Never thought of using it for him!

Re: So sad

I recall stopping at a booth at a dog event and talking to a woman who taught canine Heimlich. At the time I led a dog-Meetup group and thought it would be a good idea to host her there. But it never panned out. I pray NONE of us ever has the need to use the technique.

For those who feed raw, do you use any supplements? When Rudi & Sophie were on Fromm kibble, I used to give them Nupro. It made a nice gravy and made me feel like I was doing something extra for them. Now Gunny is on Big Dog Natural (dehydrated raw) and I haven't been giving him anything else. He ge...

I saw a lot of condolences on Facebook for one of my friends. I don't really know her except she graduated from my high school a few years before me and we have mutual friends. She has several dogs and one of them died suddenly. Someone asked what happened and here it is: the dog choked on a turkey ...

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

:saint: Run free, sweet boy. Bob, having walked the same walk with Sophie, I hope it brings some small measure of consolation to you to know that Ollie had the most gentle passage possible with liver cancer. This doesn't lessen the emptiness for you, I know, but he had a tremendous life with you and...

Re: Keep your fingers crossed for Ollie

Dear Bob -- I've just sent you a message on how Sophie acted near the end. The liver is such a large organ -- Ollie's cancer likely was present for a long time before any symptoms showed up. The only sign I had with Sophie was loss of weight. Loss of stamina and appetite were the last signs. I hope ...

Re: rhodesian ridgebacks?

My nephew and his wife just got one from a breeder in northern CA who supposedly breeds for temperament suitable for family dog. Time will tell. I've only seen photos on FB, but apparently they gotten together in S.F. at a beach with owners and at least a couple of siblings. I strongly advised early...
