Re: Please Good Thoughts and Magical Powers for MP

This is the hardest part of loving and being loved by a dog. You have given MP a life that most people would want - I know I do! You are an amazing dog mom, and she knows that. You are doing right by her and this is the most unselfish gift you can give her. I've been in this position more times than...

Re: My boys are gone...

I lost three of mine in 2016, it is so hard. One of those was due to hemangio as well. It is a nasty killer. I am so very sorry for your losses. :frown:

Re: Checking in -4th of July edition

Thankfully, none of my remaining dogs are frightened of the fireworks. Dach barked a little at them from his crate, but he got bored and went to sleep.

Willy is gone

Well, I wasn't expecting another loss so soon, but we had to let Willy go Saturday. He had been doing fine except about a week ago, he developed a swelling on his face overnight. Vet could only get blood out of it, so it wasn't an abscess. Hoping it was a hematoma, she put him on antibiotics for the...

Re: Sweet Choo-Choo has gone to the bridge

Thanks, everyone. Its hard to believe she's already been gone nearly a week. Even tonight, I looked at her empty bed and almost asked DH where she had gone. She has been in my life so long, it is going to take a bit to get used to her not being there. No one here is a stranger to that, though - ever...

Sweet Choo-Choo has gone to the bridge

It is inevitable when you have pets that one day you will lose them. It just seems so hard to comprehend, though when you've had them for so long, and they've been such a big part of your life. That reality hit us this past weekend, though, when we had to make the decision to let our girl, Choo-Choo...

Re: Tail amputation

Ugh, that's frustrating! Ashley (she used to post here - murphdog) had to have her pittie's tail amputated for similar reasons. She was treating it, but it did end up becoming infected, and amputation was the best option. The dog did fine with the surgery and hasn't had any ill effects from it. But,...

Re: *sigh* Hemagiosarcoma

So, Willy had his consult this past Friday and his stitches and staples removed from his surgery site. The vet pretty much said what I already knew (re: how aggressive this cancer can be, etc) The options she gave us was pretty much what I expected also. 1) Do nothing other than the surgery he's alr...

Re: *sigh* Hemagiosarcoma

Thanks for the input, everyone! I am going to keep the appointment, and just see what the oncologist says. If I go with further diagnostics, I am considering having x-rays done at my clinic and just bringing them with me for the oncologist to see. It would be much cheaper than having x-rays there. I...

Re: *sigh* Hemagiosarcoma

Thanks for the input! I checked out some of the links, and it seems like a lot of useful information. My computer is being stupid, though and not wanting to cooperate totally... I'm still really torn on how far to go with diagnostics financially. I believe Molly's ultrasounds were around $600 when I...

*sigh* Hemagiosarcoma

So, for those who don't know from facebook, Willy had surgery last week to remove some ulcerated tumors. He had some removed and biopsied 2-3 years ago that came back as hemangiomas. What couldn't be removed was treated with a high dose of prednisone, and it seemed to knock it out. Over the last few...

Re: Dogs are expensive...

He looks kinda sorry...lol Not dog related, but once, my parents had about $10,000 cash hidden in their safe. My had a dehumidifier in the safe that required a small hole to run the electric cord out to an outlet. Apparently, the hole was big enough for a mouse to sneak into the safe. When they open...

How incredibly sad :( That just breaks my heart. I am so sorry Paul had to go through that, but I'm glad he was able to offer some help. I hope the elderly gentleman is able to get the help he needs. It sounds like his car keys need to be taken away. Bless his heart.

Loomis too - but his is usually on his backstraps. Choo-Choo's head will be that way sometimes too. It doesn't seem to bother them any.

Re: Interceptor's coming back!

Yay! I used Trifexis briefly when Interceptor was discontinued, and it worked well for fleas, and the most the dogs tolerated it, but Loomis would vomit daily. Since it wasn't right after his dose, we didn't connect it. The vet suspected Mega-E. We put him through all sorts of testing - bloodwork, b...
