Re: A behavior/maturity/training conundrum -- opinions welcome!

<t>Ditto to what Laura said. The only other thing I would add is that it would be extremely good for you to go and just hang out with the sheep some times. That means yes, he goes into the training pen with you and you take a chair and a book, and you just hang out. I would recommend doing this a LO...

Re: California Nat'l Lamb Meal? long, sorry.

<t>I was feeding my crew healthwise chicken/oatmeal. I wrote in how my dogs all got bad diarrhea, and were treated for giardia, and then I put them on bland diets. I will add that they tested neg for parasites, but treated anyway. I bought a new bag of the stuff, and same thing- my BC had liquid dia...

diarrhea sweeping through x2!

<t>A bit over a week ago, my BC Dan came down with bad diarrhea- I had him checked for Giardia, but it was negative (still treated nonetheless). Then, a few days later, Lucy my Kelpie had diarrhea. Then, my Kelpie Nikke- she had the vomiting type of illness. So, a few days break and yesterday, my fi...

Re: This is a heads-up for those of you who have been using Advantage for flea control in their dogs

<t>The insect growth inhibitor is a necessary evil. Fleas do not live on a dog/cat, they live in the environment and breed like minks as it were... Any chemical that only kills adults, does nothing to prevent explosion of them in the house. This I know, from my brother's last year invasion of fleas ...

Re: ? Re Whisper's Lyme

<t>Do you have video of Whisper's runs? I know in one video I saw, just before she bailed the teeter, she had been looking at someone on the outside of the ring- the person was in a weird place, and she looked to have lost her concentration. I know from experience, losing concentration on teeter/dog...

Re: A question for anyone who trains or has trained in herding--

<t>Sounds like he's one-sided, which is not unusual. What I would, and have done with my BC boy, who hated come by, is to basically be more persistent than him. To that, I added something by Scott Glen, which is what really did the trick. Here's what I would do:<br/> Set it up so that the the easies...

Re: Disappointed in Rescues

<t>I did rescue for several years. Worked with one of the biggest Boxer rescues in the country. Also did some herding dog rescue. The dogs were ALWAYS the priority to me, and, equally important, that a good match was made. When I did home checks, more time was spent on speaking with the people, seei...

<r>Hi Laura <E>:)</E><br/> <br/> I would try a fed days of Pepcid- one every 24 hours. Give it to her at night. She may have an underlying sour gut, which will cause her to be inappetant. I have had very very good results using this approach in a few of my dogs. Just continue to feed the raw/kibble,...

<t>I went through the same sort of thing with my Boxer. One thing I can tell you, is that you need to stop analyzing his poo so much. <t>I am crying, because like you, I put my boy down earlier this year. He seemed pretty happy, and relatively healthy, but I knew it was time. Then, came the guilt which gutted me just gutted me. I burst out crying at dog trials, and I wailed, I mean wailed. I had to take his picture down. It has ta...

I lost my Boxer Tucker in January of this year, and am still reeling from it. As to when Leo should be allowed to pass, I wuold suggest you see if you can get Dr Fred's cell, and perhaps he could meet you at the office if it becomes Leo's time. My vet has done this for me.

Hi
Danny is 19 months. He just started losing pretty much when he went on this food. His stool is normal. I wonder if he does need more carbs. I am giving him more biscuits than the others, so that makes him happy :)

Weight loss on Acana Prairie

<t>Okay, so three out of my four dogs are doing great on this food. Danny, my BC however, is losing weight. I am feeding him a whole lot more than my other dogs at the same weight, and he's getting back to the thin-ness he was when he had Giardia. I am thinking of doing a stool sample, but wanted to...

Extremely happy with Acana

<r>Prairie version. My one Kelpie who had thinning hair where her collar would sometimes rub her neck (collar wasn't tight) has absolutely no sign of that now. She's a good measure of coat health, because she is rather slick coated, and you can see a real Pantene shine <E>;)</E><br/> <br/> They love...

Re: does anyone read terrierman's blog?

<t>LOVE those pics Bari. I have absolutely NO time for the show bred dogs. This business of explaining why they cannot move normally, so they can have a flying trot is hooey. There may be a shred of basis in this, but, as all show ring dogs eventually show, the exageration is the norm. YUCK on them,...

Re: Nature's Variety Issues Nationwide Voluntary Recall on Raw Frozen Chicken Diets

The thing is, this sort of thing is inherent in working with fresh foods. A recall, to me proves that they are doing the checks they need to. Heck, even food for human consumption is recalled with some regularity. I have been thinking of trying this food, will wait a bit.
