I'm aiming to host two photo contests each month. Unless something comes up, the topics will be announced on the first and third Tuesday of the month, with entries open until the following Sunday, midnight Pacific time and voting polls open until the following Thursday, midnight Pacific time.
This will hopefully give people enough time to actually take photos suitable for the contest, instead of often having to rely on older ones to be able to enter.
Entry Rules:1. To enter the contest you must be a registered forum member.
2. One photo only and one entry per person. Whether only one dog is allowed (other dogs in the background or out of focus are ok) or multiple dogs are allowed depends on the topic of the current contest and will be announced.
3. Photo entries must be of your own dog - you can't enter other people's dogs. However, the photo you enter doesn't necessarily have to be taken by yourself.
4. Photos must be uploaded to the forum using the "File Manager" feature, which is not accessible from the "quick reply" text box. Instead, use the "New Reply" button at the top of the thread. The File Manager option will appear below the text box. Click "Browse", choose the file you want, then click "Add file" to upload and "Done adding files" to close the File Manager window.
Please do not link to photos elsewhere, as they may not always be available for viewing.
5. Please include the name of your dog(s) in your post.
Important:
The contest forum accepts approved posts only, so please give me some time to get to it. Don't worry if it doesn't get approved right after you posted it. I will include any qualifying entries that are in the approval queue up to the deadline.
Voting Rules:1. To vote on contestants, you must be a registered forum member.
2. Beginning with the current contest (#12), the number of votes per person will be determined by the number of entries:
1-9 entries: 1 vote per person
10-24 entries: 3 votes per person
25-49 entries: 5 votes per person
50+ entries: 7 votes per person
Rules may change a little bit from contest to contest, depending on the topic - e.g. whether it's limited to one dog, or multiple dogs are ok and so on. Please read the announcement post before entering a photo.
All entries of each contest will be added to our
Photo Gallery. In order to have a nice, uniform-looking layout, I will resize all contest entries to 480 x 360 pixels if possible, if they are too small or of a non-standard shape, I will crop them and/or add a "frame" to make them standard size. I hope you don't mind me doing this.
Of course you retain the full ownership of your submitted photos. If at any time in the future you want any of your image(s) removed from that gallery for any reason, all you need to do is let me know.
