Okay maybe not a year but somewhere's around that.
I took the Chiefster out to work sheepies today...just cuz. He has his lower level AHBA letters but we hit a wall and we took time off. Time away...worked on other things like rally and agility.
So today my pal talked me into taking him out with her to a place she goes just for fun. I went with no expectations...just a time for some fun...whatever happens happens...no lofty goals.
I knew there was a issue with Chiefy and I regarding the stock stick...but I wasn't sure if it was truly the issue. Well...it was. Once we dropped the stick on the ground...whoo hoo...engagement...focus...gathering...he recalled his flanking commands.....no stand off's ...no sniffing in stress...no avoidance behaviors...
Just one freakin' happy boy! His little barks to help him with power of his presence returned. My friend who knows him was laughing...he only barks at lure coursing!
He was an honest dog today...no gripping...he would go to the head but no gripping...not that was ever an issue...
His gathering was nice and he was reading his stock well.
He is very much different to work than Jamba or my friend's dog that I have trialed.
My little guy had fun! And that was the main point! Whoohoo!

I don't know. I have Jamba in training now and a new addition down the road...and I have a couple of friend's dogs I help with...just don't know. He is more of a chore/for fun kinda dog...dunno. Who knows...whatever happens happens...I am just happy as long as he stays healthy and happy.  If we hit another wall...no prob. Take a break...come back for fun.:)
