I gave the dogs a chunk of a cantalope rind and uh, they ate it. I was [stupidly] expecting them to just lick it and nom off the bits of flesh. It was very ripe so it was pretty much just a little bit of flesh and then the leather outside.

Any harm?

I doubt it. My dogs have eaten cantaloupe rinds for years. I cut the rinds into little chunks and they all love it. I don't give them too much at one time, and I make sure not to give any of them big pieces that they might try to gulp down, but when they chew it up, it's fine!

I let my dogs eat a bunch of pumpkin rind one year. They were chewing it up and enjoying it, and I had washed the pumpkin, so I didn't think much about it. Later they barfed, but I suspect that was more due to the huge amount we let them eat than anything else. I've never had the problem when I only give them a little bit.
