Every fall I volunteer for a weekend to teach agility at an event run by Alaskan Malamute Rescue of New England called Camp-N-Pack. It's a full weekend of events held at a resident summer camp where you can stay in a shelter, get great meals each day, and do various fun activities with your dog. A lot of the dogs there are Mals and other northern breeds, but all dogs are welcome and usually about half of them are other breeds. It's a very low key weekend with as much down time or as much activity as you want. A highlight of the weekend is the Sat night dinner and live auction (there are also several silent auctions during the weekend). It's really inexpensive too - your shelter rental and meals and activities are only $90 for the weekend (Fri dinner to Sun lunch).

Here's a link to more info: http://www.amrone.org/events/campnpack/index_2008.html

It really is a fun weekend with your dog(s) and I always have a great time so I thought I'd let all of you know about it too.

Oh, that sounds like fun! Too bad I'm so far away.

If you don't get them in the mail don't worry about it - there's always next year!

That sounds awesome! I wonder if I can pull it together to get there with one of mine...

My only issue is the shared cabin thing. my other half sure wouldn't go for it, and I'm not really good about going to things like this on my own. I have the best intentions, but I get painfully shy in social situations. lol

You can pay extra and not share a cabin or bring a tent. I've done both. I don't like the idea of a stranger sharing my space either so we (my 2 friends and I) pay extra. Or come for a day and just try it out. Where are you in MA? This event is in Tolland.
