Bug and I were making sidewalk drawings and she wanted the dogs and cats drawn as humans. Then she decided they needed shoes. After some discussion, we decided that:

*Cousteau wears Birkenstocks - you know, you can't really run in them unless you want to, so it's a good excuse to amble along. Plus they're easy to kick off to go swimming. He could wear water shoes, but you could technically run in those if you had to.

*Havana wears running shoes. Not necessarily any big brand, just whatever fits and lets her run.

*Mully (the scaredy cat) wears super high heels. She's got a squeaky little meow and would totally be like one of the stupid girls in a horror movie that decides to get out of her car in a haunted cemetery to check out that thing she saw.

*Chai (the tolerant cat) would probably stay barefoot. She has absolutely no survival skills, as evidenced by the ears which froze off when she was a stray, yet she still tries to run out the door when she's hungry!

How about your dogs?

Jack would wear hiking boots. He wants LOTS of protection for his tender little tootsies and does not want them to ever get wet or cold, but he wants to be able to walk comfortable for miles and miles and miles. Oh, and he wants to look macho too!

Oliver...hmmm...I think Oliver would wear slippers, so he could be ready to nap any time. A pair of custom made moccasins would suit him; they're laid back and comfy, not pretentious at all, but very functional. I grew up next to a Cree Indian Reservation and the old ladies used to make mocs to fit our feet, beaded however you wanted. I used to wear mine for quick trips to the store even, because I hated to take them off.

Roscoe has to have two pairs; he's just that high-maintenance.

He needs cross-country running shoes - the kind that are meant for rough terrain but let you run when necessary. But he only needs those outside. Inside, he needs a nice cozy pair of slippers.

My Sunny would need big red clown shoes, because he's a sweet, silly goofball.
Ruby would be in the Ruby Slippers because she's scared of storms and always afraid she won't be in Kansas (or Illinois) anymore.
Flick would be in roller blades, she can't get anywhere fast enough!
Cats: Turtle would have to be sporting the Glass Slippers, because she's a real princess, Guthrie would be in a comforable pair of scruffy loafers, Junie would be in ballet slippers, he's always dancing around the kitchen, and Darla Jean would be in flip flops, out lounging in the garden.

Sofia wears ballet shoes. She floats when she jumps!

Ole wears Converse Hightops. Purple. As befits any Elklown.

Jack and Alex, definitely running shoes. Lilly, bedroom slippers. Fuzzy, pink bedroom slippers.

Don't know about Zoe but Whispy would be wearing pink fuzzy slippers, but the high heel ones.

Tulip would go barefoot cuz y'know, they're like 100% natural and organic fer sher, y'know. She'd also have a flower painted on her cheek and some love beads too.

Ruffy'd have some shiny, squeaky uncompfortable Rockports or some other business shoe that would make him look more dignified. He's not, but he thinks he is. Ruffysdad

Gina would be dressed in a formal suit and matching hat, because she is a Princess -- because she's older, I would imagine a comfortable designer pair of flats to match her dress. They would never wear out, because she gets carried to wherever she needs to go...can't get herself dirty or anything.

KaeJae, flip flops - to go with his tie dyed shirt and worn out beach shorts. Flip flops are easy to wash off when he spills beer all over them.

Abby would have some soft little lavender colored Mary Jane-style slip-ons. Dainty yet functional.

Pepper would need cross trainers, in electric colors and sparkles of course. Oh, and some flipper-shoes for the pool.

Bodie would totally need high top tennies--ones that would look good when he's making off with someone's dinner roll at full speed OR when he's sprawled on the couch. Maybe some Converse Chuck Taylors...

Jazzy would have black leather pumps with "sensible heels" appropriate for wearing with a high collared dress, a little hat that has one of those nets on it. She'd be carrying a small red or black purse with a clasp at the top. She'd have on silk gloves, and she would be walking in front of everyone determined to get to church on time...

Clover would have on Nike Air, and she'd be dressed like a little girl, but her dress would be torn and have dirt on it, and the bow on her head would be halfway falling off, but she wouldn't care one bit. She'd be laughing and have this huge happy smile.

Maggie: some of those brown sensible Supernanny shoes.

Ben: Super shiny penny loafers (what you'd wear with a tuxedo)

Gus: Cream colored mocs, like the dads on Disney movies

Zhi: Red alligator stilletos, for sure

Ted: Rockport penny loafers - business casual

Lynn: Leather mules with a wee heel, because she's still a bit insecure about her height - and she can kick them off and go swimming!

Ollie would wear some well polished high-end shoes, maggie dirty sneakers, and Chloe - definately flip flops.

Shiri would wear little backless slides with a kitten heel.

Well, I think Lenny is a metrosexual, so he'd probably wear those black leather dress shoe/boot things, 'cause you know he'd have to look perfect.

Cole would wear doggie cross trainers/hiking/running track shoes, and they would be thrashed, since he'd use them so much going everywhere. (Lenny of course would have spotless shoes, and be horrified at the sight of Cole sloshing his dirty boots in Lenny's vicinity.)
