Awww...I love those little terriers. They're not really small dogs; they're big dogs in a small package, in my experience.

She's cute. I'm pretty sure I'll never cross to the terrier dark side, but if I was going to, it would be for a cutie like her.

Yes, come over to the dark side - join the terrier people!!! You KNOW you want to!!! (ok, my terrier-ish dog is part Chi, but that just makes her even more special). I looove terriers. They are *so* much fun to clicker train.

I had a terrier mix for 14 years. Cute as can be, wiley like a fox, attitude to spare, and such busy little bees. Not to mention i became convinced they're spring loaded for sure.. I couldn't leave anything on the counters especially when i was gone, my "little" girl would bounce up and get whatever she wanted. Packages of chicken...easter baskets off the top of the fridge, hidden christmas candy, etc, etc.... But i loved her to bits, and miss her dearly. Had I known as much about training as i do now, i know many of her issues could have been better managed. Little Jackie has a sweet little face. I hope you, Nutmeg, and the BF find what you are looking for in her. Enjoy your fun match too!

Yes, come over to the dark side - join the terrier people!!! I'd be in good company! We're just going to scope her out and get a feel for her, so I'm not going to get my hopes up. BF is also looking at this dreamy specimen http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=11531679 The only problem is, he's probably too big, though it's hard to tell from the picture.

Well, it sounds like he's just a bit too big for the strata rules We're also considering this guy: http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=4084107 I love Beagles, and I love Brittanies, so it's a pretty sweet deal. We're on a roll today!

So many fabulous dogs that need equally fabulous homes! That BC is a real beauty, and the Brittany/Beagle looks like a charmer.
Good luck bringing home just one!

We vote for #3!!! I'd be nervous about why a dog is named "Ronin"..... Good luck! I hope you find a good fit and that Nummers doesn't throw a fit about having a little brother/sister.

How can you possibly decide with such a great selection! Can't wait for Saturday and your review.

Ohhhh, I just saw this! Nutmeg may be getting a sibling - YAY!!!! Hmmmmm...if those ones don't work out, I may have to check our rescue forum to see who else is out there needing a good home that maybe isn't on petfinder yet.... Small dog, friend for Nutmeg...off to look! Jean Edited to add: just checked our forum....the rat terrier has been humourously described as "hyperspastic" by someone on our board. . I see she now has an adoption pending - have you already submitted your application? By the way, my daughter adopted from that shelter - it can take up to a week or so for them to make a decision; they look at all the applications for the dog and decide which, if any, will be the perfect home. Great, great people working there - and they have lots of little dogs right now.

Thanks Jean - I've just responded to your PM. We actually decided against Jackie (hyperspastic sounds a little... uh... not Nutmeg )in favour of Ace, the beagle/Brittany cross We've sent in an application and are keeping our fingers crossed!

That's a good point, Yintzy. I had a Brittany previously, and yup, she was a LOT of work She was from a hunting line and had enormous prey drive. The nice thing about Vancouver, though, is there are plenty of places to roam. There is an excellent trail system through the forest, as well as beaches and off leash parks, and we live five minutes from a off-leash riverside park. We are very fortunate in that regard! Nutmeg also has a very high prey (read: squirrel) drive which took ages to get under some semblance of control. I don't think we'd manage at all if we had to rely mainly on leashed city walks for exercise. We'll meet him first and see if his size and energy level is a good match for us and Nutmeg... to be honest, having a dog with a bit of zip might encourage the Nut to get off the couch a bit more

One couple with a Brit. actually couldn't walk down the street because there were a lot of pigeons and he would get stuck, not a full on point, but he couldn't move. It really started to generalize to outdoor cats, rats, kids on rollerblades, skateboards. So I'd set him up for some of these instinct type of tests to see how he reacts.
