I hope it's okay to do a bit of promotion. A client of mine developed Pawz, a dog boot which is getting great reviews. He gave me a box for Whisper last night on his agility graduation. They are made of rubber and look like balloons. Dogs take very little acclimation in being able to wear the boots and they can feel the ground like they would if they were barefoot. He developed them because he had such a hard time in the winter with the salt and finding a boot his dog could wear and would fit her was impossible. Clean Run is carrying them and a lot of dog rehab places, including Wizard of Paws, are using them. I think they're wonderful and will recommend them highly. His web site is www.pawzdogboots.com He has a promotional video which is very cute. Here's the You Tube link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w49XybpaY2oThese boots are great, disposable and inexpensive and can be used for hiking, swimming or walking in the rain or snow. I'm giving my two thumbs up review for this product and thought I'd pass it along.

They look like little baloons! Great colors! Whatever the dogs are saying on his site certainly got Sophie's attention. I wish they would tell her to behave better when I clip her nails. hahaha
Yintzy, I'll certainly spread the word about these booties. But could you tell your client that one of the NJ stores listed to sell his product is a puppy-mill dog-selling store (Shake-a-Paw). It sure would be nice to pull the product from there.

They are very cute and I could see them for you folks in more temperate climates. But not for Alaska.

I'm going to pass this on to my friend with a Bull Terrier, she has had all kinds of trouble finding boots that fit. Jean, at New York and Wisconsin being temperate climates.

Those look like they would really work! I've not had good luck with getting any of my Shelties, past or present, to wear foot-garb, from socks to bandages. I'm willing to try these, though; here in Chicago, too many people still use rock salt on their walks in the winter, and I end up with three leashed dogs all hopping and holding up feet for me to remove bits of the rock salt. I'd love it if these are a solution for that! I will weigh in with my review in about 6 months.

Hmmm I'm tempted to try some.
My dogs wear no boots both because they hate them, and because their dew claws are always in the way of the fastners. They're good to about -28 C as long as they're moving.
I'm not hugely jazzed about disposable, "natural rubber" as I am allergic to latex..
So has whisper tried them?

Jean, at New York and Wisconsin being temperate climates. Only compared to Alaska..... I know, it IS funny! I just think their feet would be colder with hard, frozen rubber on them at -30. Their feet do get used to the cold down to about -25 or so, as long as I take them out enough. I see those boots as being excellent for folks who live where the roads are salted. There is no use salting in Alaska because the temperatures are too low for it to do any good.

Yeah, in NYC, the salt was the BIG problem with Ella's poor lil' footsies. They salted heavily, like daily. ugh. Of course, I still managed to find icy patches to fall down on on a regular basis. It's not safe for me to live in cold weather Ella actually grew to love her boots while we were walking (she never grew to love running/playing in them). We'd be walking, and one would fall off, and I'd suddenly noticed she'd stopped, bare paw held into the air, with a horrified princess look on her face. Princess don't touch the cold salty ground with bare paws! Connie and Yintzy, tell your sheltie princesses that .

Do the boots provide any protection from the cold (is there any insulation or is it pure rubber?) That's out main problem - iggy feet have practically no hair on them and get cold very fast, especially when its wet outside. Paw wax helps them with the salt, but their feet nearly freeze and fast.

I don't think so but keeping them dry will probably help them not freeze.
