Tomorrow we are going to our first flyball practice. I have to bring Jake and Zoe with me since hubby is working on the house in MD and I am in VB with both dogs. Zoe would be really upset if I left her home alone.

Any suggestions of how I can manage both dogs there? We'll probably see if Zoe enjoys racing too, which she might! I have a carry bag for her that I could put her in while I work with Jake and I could bring a bully stick to distract her if needed. Unfortunately, I don't have either of their crates in Virginia yet.

you might see if they have a crate you could borrow - i worry she could get out of the bag if given the time and lack of attention smile does she like kongs - that would probably distract her longer than a bully stick.

she does like kongs but only filled with stuff she'll lick out in 5 minutes when frozen (it will be hot and melt fast). Bully sticks take an hour or so.

Also, I think we may see if she likes flyball and give her a try. She has long legs for a dachsie, is really fast, and has started to like Jake's tennis balls but with lots of treats, may be into the getting the ball thing. We'll see.

I am hoping someone will have an extra crate. I asked one person and posted on freecycle. She'll bark like a maniac in there I think since she'll see me, but maybe not with her bully stick.

It will be an interesting experience I am sure!

Our practice place has crates lined up against the wall for anyone's use. Most training facilities do have extra crates somewhere. You might try craigslist - people are posting dog stuff on there all the time, usually very reasonable.

I got a crate on freecycle! I am picking it up in 20 min. (my first time with success on freecycle! It is a hard sided crate, big enough for a dalmation. I am hoping either dog will fit in it, but if not, Zoe definitely will. Practices are at someone's house, so I am not sure how it is set up.
